would not be surpised some psytrance setups similar to this will emerge.. big events like boom make it worth it to invest lot of time on a live (and too also move a big setup from the studio ) ..it will come as the scene get bigger, and there is more $$$$$ involved .
Or maybe i m in total désillusion with the reality of this scene , dunno.. |

I don't see this happening any time soon...
You've mentioned boom! Well, despite its size and fame, Boom is not among the venues that pay big fees to artists. All the money is distributed among all the stuff that's going on there. And if they were to engage in something like this, this would have to mean that the artists would have proper insurance for carrying their stuff. That would possibly raise the value so much that they'd either have to cut corners on other stuff - which seems unlikely; or the ticket's price would have to go much higher - which seems even more unlikely, since they face enough criticism as is...
Boom is just an example, but I think the same applies pretty much anywhere.

I can tell you from experience that Boom pay their headline acts pretty well. Insurance for the equipment we carry is not expensive; it is standard for events to hire in larger items of backline as required so that the band doesn't need to carry eg. a 24-channel mixer, or a drum kit with them (although some do, depending on how they travel). In general I don't think it's unreasonable to expect larger and better-attended events to pay more than smaller ones, as once the festival grows beyond a certain size, infrastructure and setup costs for a larger festival increase more slowly than income from tickets, concessions and bar.

to me the reason we still don't laugt at guy that come with just a laptop for a live set is cash... it cost cash to buy equipment, it cost cash to book artists / bands that have to move with lot of gears .. so money is the princpial reason why we dont ear much intresting live performance .
and i don't see this happening any time soon too... but i feel like one day or a other it s the guys that make good music and have intresting live that will be booked over the one who press spacebar,crowd love real live acts in these big festivals
lot of people like these festivals for the free feeling u get in the air, open minded spirit and they love true live |

beeing totally in trance a 7 in the morning flying on great sound who the fuck is playing we dont give a shit as long as the sound is good , we are like hardcore trancers , more and more a minority but it s not bad it s great the scene get more open to me... like a at boom it was amazing.. so for us live dont matter as much.. but still i belive their is more sharing between the artists and crowd with a real live set..a symbiose can happen and will dictacte the evolution of the set , it's something unic. |

@Colin
I agree with you and saw it happen plenty times already. But I was thinking about other kind of equipment: people starting to carry round their own modular setup to play live. Most of us (who get into it, obviously) like this stuff like it's our baby (XD), so I don't see people taking chances carrying their own stuff. I know I'd fear something happened to my stuff.
Do you think we'll have lots of acts with modulars?
I think it would be cool... It's cool that people are getting into it more and more again, just 'cause it creates diversity. I mean, nowadays it seems like everyone's using the same stuff to make music and at least this sort of stuff can be very personal. No real chances of folks having two exact same modular setups... Know what I mean? Even if this stuff doesn't go everywhere we play, it's probably going to make music sound much more diverse anyways.
But don't get me wrong! I vote for modulars and big setups on stage! cheers
