Its going to be raining heavy in India at this time but my tour starts in July 2nd week.

Lots of outdoor gigs included so i was a bit hesitant to take my nord lead 2x because it is hard to probably arrange for one in India.. Rain and moisture may damage it and im still quite worried....in case no arrangement is made to get me one then i might just have to take mine...

Setup:
1. My Laptop
2. Soundcard
3. Nord lead 2x (Will use it on the fly for LIVE lead and harmony play and switch to MIDI recording whenever needed)
4. FL Studio 9 (Figured out a way of on the fly recording and editing with full automation on the fly so will use this for LIVE play)
5. All usable channels are setup with desired efx
6. Fav VST's are also laid down without sounds or prests - I will record MIDI notes on the fly using the Nord as a controller / based on the track i know which sounds to trigger and tweak

Was thinking of Ableton Live with preset WAV's saved and triggering them in sequence as desired but i though it would be cheating...

Already rehearsed a couple of tunes and it went quite well...

The only drawback is because its 80% LIVE i.e te kicks / percussion / bass are already laid down but melody / lead / chord etc will be on the fly.....the problem is after one session of live track i will have to give it a break maybe for 1 min to open the new project with new settings for the next track....

What do u think?

Any suggestions?

PLUR,
S

I think you should keep as much MIDI as possible and use dummy clips on channels routed to key vsts and vstis to trigger key preset changes and automations.

I also think you should put all of your effects chains into their own audio effect rack then put all those into another rack with a macro knob assigned to chain selector, but that's just what I'd do.

It sounds like your live set up is already more % "live" than almost every other "live" out there, so considering what you have to work with, and how large of a trip you're planning, I'd say you deserve applause, so don't feel bad.

Axis, bro I will try what you suggested and see how effective it is... theoretically speaking it makes sense ill try it out Thanx for that tip bro

Saying that I also rehearsed playing an electric guitar with a testtube on my finger for effects and sounds it creates when the strings r strummed. Also connected to an efx pedal with a wah-wah and flanger with echo as efx in it... was sounding great but too cumbersome to individually control the keyboard and the guitar.... i was scared id be lost half way through

why not devise a new project file for all of your tracks in ableton with scene changes doing your bpm /time signature/etc switches?            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

technically yes but i was thinking of having loops of ambience n sounds recorded which ill fade through on the CDj before i bring in the next track - live so this could be like an intro or something.... any other suggestions?

imagine one minute, one minute and a half intro before each track...don´t think that´s good idea...

closing and opening projects at stage with a lot of channels, you have a high risk of some trouble...keep distance from this..

are a lot of ways to make a live act authentical (not fake)...

...and always remember...

...don´t make laptop lives without a backup at cdj.

oh thats bad man, you will kill the flow on every next track, remember it needs to sound the same as dj set and to be mixed from one track to another, you are not on a rock concert but on a psy trance live set.
also i think so many plugins and tracks and stuff put on a live set will overload your cpu and will make glitches or even maybe total turn off of the pc
specialy for FL i would say is very very unstable for live perfomances.
you have like 80 % of the stuff planned for playing live
have in mind the bad eq, compressing and everything else done on the fly, there will be a lot of pain in the ears if not done everything perfect, and you can never have the same quality as playing already produced and played live, and psy people like quality on the dancefloor and not pain in the ear, 1 min pause on every next track or even longer pauses if your laptop crash           VA - Spiritual Science out now!

yeah -1 for sure on the 1-1.5 minutes of ambience/etc at the end of/beginning of each track, would definitely kill the flow of the set.

It would serve you well to develop some way to have everything within one project file....and definitely not FL for live set imo....that's what ableton is best at!

What is keeping you from doing this?            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

indeed indeed.
i recommend the Tom Cosm method, 2 x 6 buss tracks plus midi, and some sends if need be, then you can mix in and out while still keeping a dynamic set. too much stuff going on and you get your head stuck into the computer which is about as much fun to watch as a guy reading a book while djing

yeah if you are considering doing a live set and you haven't seen tom cosms video on how he does it, its impossible to overstate how many great ideas there are in those videos.

is great,

as well,
