This may be a question of preference (or maybe just a stupid question), but I would like to know what format you play back your tracks for a live set in (in Ableton, Traktor, or whatever you use). Do you use the 24 bit files or the 16 bit mastered files? My guess would be the mastered files, but the sonic clarity is probably still greater in the original 24 bit files. But then you have to take in to account the compression and eqing that the mastering engineer would do. Any help? |

It depends... If you have a mastering engineer mastering your stuff for you, then just ask him for the 24 bit mastered file... He should have it prior to it being dithered down (hopefully)
Personally, I do use the mastered versions, but I also make mastered 24 bit versions of my stuff just for live sets...
