dunno right now but in the past he used a mac with motu ouputs to a desk , some fxs (alesis reverb )and synths (sh101..)
imo this workflow wont work as good in all genre, it s good in posford style some of his tunes are rather progressive making ideal to mix live on top while some genre might not leave as much room for impro
to me best would be to compose the tunes to be played live to have more potential for live performance |

if i remember correctly simon posford used a tascam 24 track recorder and a mackie 24 cha mixer for doing live tweaking and mixing some years ago in his hallucinogen live set. i don't know what his combo is nowerdays.
merv from eat static had last summer atleast a laptop, mixer, roland sh-101 and some hardware fx. he tweaked fx, fx control on mixer and arpeggiators + tweaking with synth. live enough for me...

Hey Sento. Great question mate. I am very interested in useful answers to this question too! I would recommend you check out one of Tom Cosm's tutorials on how to go from studio to live using Ableton Live. You will find it and an awesome ableton live community here: www.cosm.co.nz or on YouTube.
You dont need a truck sized mixing desk like Simon Posford or GMS. TC recommends not mixing down your complete tracks into a single audio file but keep your instruments separate so you can play and tweak them live on the fly (see video for full explanation). Then all you need is a midi controller to suit your style of performing!
