I have live 7 installed and it doesn't detect my core2duo. I have an intel E8400 (whatever that means) at 2x3.0ghz. The button remains grey and I don't find any solutions on the net (except for amd processors) nor in the manual.

thanks!           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

Is your dual core detected by XP ?

Do you have 2 "cpu usage" windows, when you press CTRL ALT SUP and go to performance tab ?

Also check in your bios setup if one core is not disabled ...

In performances I can see two bars of CPU. I'll check bios next time I reboot (but if xp detects them that should cover it no?)

eidt: and an additional question: when I pre-listen to samples in the browser, they have serious latency (checked asio latency, changed it, compensated it etc... doesn't work)

Anyone on that one? (not going to start a new thread for this)

cheers

you're right, if it is detected in xp, you should have the 2. Is it a cracked version ? if so I remember having some trouble with brand new dual core, but upgraded to registered version 1 week after, so dont remember well.

for your latency in file browser, do you monitor it while Live is pplaying ? if so, sample preview is synced to the current track. so you to need to wait the next measure for the playback to launch.

If live is stopped there should be no latency...

...At least if you don't only have like 512 meg of memory.

Asio latency is important only with direct playing at keyboard, or with analog input signal (midi/audio > PC > DAW> soundcard) on direct output, there should be none. (plz, correct me on that if needed ....)

The same version of live doesn't have the same problem on my laptop. There it detects 2 cores. So it has to be some setting on my desktop. But really I have no clue... In 'system' I see 2 cores, no problems, everything running.           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

don't have a clue either....

is the 1st time you use Live with this computer ? with this current windows install ?

Quite a pity that live only have a "ON/OFF" button for dual core setups. with nothing more barely explained ...

yep, new pc, sp3, nothing funny happening apart from this. I truely seem to be the only one facing this problem. I never had any problem that wasn't talked about and solved on some forum. *sigh* Thanks anyway Yggdrasil for thinking this over. cheers           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

have you found the sollution? If not then create 2 tracks with identical plugins so that the cpu bar reaches say 25% with dual core support enabled in the preferences when you deselect that option then the load should hit 50% load.

Edit: as i read your first post i realize you can´t even deselect it. Can you upload a Screenshot?

Of what? The button(s) remain just grey, not much to see there. Or do you mean a screenshot of system performance/cpu meter?           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog
