ok i've seen several artists doing "live acts" where all they do is play their wav's on cubase and press a few keys on their nords n stuff...
say i want to do my own "live"..how would i change the tempo of the project if all my songs have different bpm's?
i want to play my wavs while i add stuff with various vst's on top but if the songs keep on changing tempo then its hard to sync them..
so finally, is there a way to do something where the project changes tempo automatically with each wav file?

You have thing called tempo editor in Cubase which allows you to automate bpm. Anyway this is not the way i would do that.
You need prerecorded parts and parts you will control live, prerecorded parts can be at any bpm you desire, just mix them together before the show. Live parts never need bpm but musician hand with proper timing.
Moreover Abelton is made for these kind of things so it would be better to use it instead of Cubase which probably more studio alike sequencer.

I have used cubase without problems so far in my live acts. There is a button on the left in each audio track where there is a note. "toggle timebase between musical and linear" if you push this, you can change bpm without effecting how the playback wavs are lined up.
Bring up you vst`s, audiotracks with effects and the monitor button activated or whatever you want to do and play! you can change the bpm manually between or during the songs. This way, the bpm of your effects will also change. So it will be in sync with your songs.
Using Ableton Live is pretty different I think. Should try it out |

why would you change the tempo in the first place? not that you will write some midi tracks to go with the arrangement. most of those acts just fiddle with synths, but they do not use any midi sequences, so tempo in cubase is not important at all, since synchornization is not needed at all.
if you want to use midi parts in the arrangement anyway, there is the tempo automation track, which you can open with ctrl+t, and draw your tempo automation curve.

Vox: changing the tempo is very important if you use vst effects in realtime. You would want the delays to be in sync with the beat. Midi live? need a pretty hefty laptop and soundcard then |
