Hi Rishi,
With Ableton, all you need to know is the tempo of your track (BPM) you set the master tempo to your tracks tempo, then you warp the track and fine tune the waveform locking it as you go. once you do this to all ten of your tracks on diffrent channels it will be easy to almost "beat match" these 10 diffrent tracks to a master tempo. Then off course you can always add insert plug-ins on each channel with bypass configured to a midi button etc... to give a few live effects. The possibilities are endless. You could also add effects on the master at this point. Hope it helps...

Is there an option like the tempo track in cubase where you can draw in the tempo for each track?
I want to do a live in ableton as well but want all the tracks to remain at their original tempo..

Pythagoraz informs me that his project "TimeDrained" is going to be using Cubase live, so yes it is possible under the implied circumstances of using Cubase to play live..personally I recommend Ableton for a more "improvisational" performance..

My 2 cents(using CUbase Sx 3)...
First import all tracks u want to play, and then activate the "tempo definition"(u need to remember the BPM of your tracks, and it´s better to have the tracks bounced as perfect loop).
Now let´s sequence the tracks. Just open 2 audio tracks, and make your sequence. Notice that u can mix all tracks perfectly, as they are "beat matched"(tempo definition). Also experiment to copy some parts of the tracks to use as loops, or to make a more interesting mix between tracks.
A ps here: If u want to send both audio tracks to same output it´s nice to make proper automation to avoid audio clipping. If u have two outputs, u can use the external mixer u should be sending the audio.
So what can we play live here? For now, u can have other audio track, and use the "track-loops". Again it´s not so hard to put the loops where u want, as all track are "beat matched". So u can play any loop, any time, any where.
Add a midi track to connect your fav vst, and play some notes. Do not forget to add delay/rever/fx.
Finally I would suggest some fx on main audios(like distorion, filter). If u have several outputs from yours soundcard, send both audio tracks to a bus with some fxs on it. And then send this bus to another output.
So the final routing would be:
Stereo 1 - Tracks 1
Stereo 2 - Tracks 2
Stereo 3 - "Track-Loops" & Midi
Stereo 4 - Fxed tracks
U can also make this using a single output. But I advice to be sure about all volumes, as u will not be able to do a fast mix during the live.

it seems that you can do it in alot of ways..
foremost if you havent done a long mix with all of your tracks you have to keep in mind of the bpm so you dont get any strange transitions. well you have to keep in mind of the bpm anyway, lets say you have a long mix with all of your tracks and want to jam ontop of them, how would this work? maybe its not the best idea.
i think you can do alot of nice things if you just make on big project with tempo automation for each track.. and decide which elements to renewal, so maybe you want to freakout a sound, keep it in midi so you can play with the knobs.
the most important part is to plan the live set, like trip said, what do you want to do/be able to do..
you can hookup alot of devices and be able to play between these.
a good idea is to have a mixer and maybe have a cd connected aswell if the computer freeze, then you can just play a track from the cd untill you have fixed the computer... best is to benchmark your live set, play it at home and see if there is a place it gets to intensive for the computer, this way you will know were to optimize the set.
i my self have never played live, dunno if i ever will, but if i do i would plan it well and make sure i used the right tools that i trust and know well..
good luck..
