A psytrance jam band... hey, why not?
Starsounds Orchestra have done some concerts -- the Ozrics play trancy rock (moreso now than usual), and acts like Test Dept. paved the way for live techno. Personally, I think Underworld's act is an astonishment. But let's take it hypothetically further and into the psychedelic realm... here's a little catalog of what I'd like to see in a band.
1 Electronic drummer (e.g. Roland V-Drums) laying out the 909 sounds
1 Tabla player (also gongs, bells for intros)
2-3 Analog synth players
1 Keyboardist, for digital pads/melodies
1 Sample/effects artist (pure noise baby!)
1 Mixing board/laptop controller
Sequencers -- master keyboard or laptop -- could be used for the harder parts (EDIT: or not -- it depends on how hyper your musicians are). Picture eight psy-folks putting on a show, and making people dance like crazy while they do it!
Well, I can *dream* big... It's a lot to ask from this automated age, but the results I think would be huge. Your ideas?
  tiger got to hunt,
bird got to fly,
man got to sit and wonder why, why, why?
tiger got to sleep,
bird got to land,
man got to tell himself he understand. |
