so i wonder folks..what do u seek when u go 2 see a dj, or a live act?
do u seek only good/bad music?
or do u only want 2 listen 2 the artist doing some inovation in his music?
or do u seek seek some trip ? a voyage?
or something else?
want do u want, when u are listening 2 some individual person..?he is trying 2 express his music..what do u want 2 find?
give your thoughts..          ...

when i go to see a dj or liveact i seek essentialy the music and the style of sound to have a pleasureful dancing experience. Nevertheless the dj´s or artists function as an entertainer, as somebody who gives energy and performs...gets one with his music..does what he loves...is very important. For a dj set i reckon that everything should fit together and be sort of a trip to let the dancer rise and fall..to be able to control the dancefloor..to control the crowd..to understand and to give them what they want! I see djs at parties playing mixed cd´s and heading off for the bar to get a beer...just doesnt make any sense...and i see djs playing weird music they like..trying to keep the dancefloor as empty as possible! THe dj as an entertainer and the liveact as performance of individual art...and i personally get a lot of energy from the dj´s performance!

some thoughts..still a lot to say about this..

1st of all, my expectations is that the artist/dj take´s me on a journey...so when i go 2 see a live act..i expect that the artist really blow my mind...surprise me..4 example thix year i went 2 see kindzadza..and i must say...what a trip...so the artist nows what he does (or not ) i really got satisfied...a 3 hours live act/1 hour dj set..really he had the time 2 prepare a jorney thru his all performance..
and i saw in an interview a few weeks ago, that penta likes 2 do live´s from 4 to 8 hours...so he can prepare a good trip
so thix raise another question..almost every party (and in boom last year) do 1h/1h30 really is enough for an artist 2 give the crowd that journey?cause i think, well u can listen 2 a live hour act and listen 2 some good music..but is it enough? (althouth there are some exceptions 2 me..rinkadink last year on boom..i really got lost in time )           ...

luckyarts, well what to say i dont understand or point of view about djs.

Luckyarts - "playing mixed cd´s and heading off for the bar to get a beer"

you see djs or people who wants to be djs who do that?????

Luckyarts - "and i see djs playing weird music they like..trying to keep the dancefloor as empty as possible! THe dj as an entertainer"

Hum??? nobody likes to play with the dancefloor empty man. dj entertainer ???

In my personal opinion there are people who cares and wants to be professional and if you want to be professional you have to spend €€€ buying what you need to do so.

But the artist has to be suported too.

Lets see a for a live performance, soon as you got all machines (synths, sound card, monitors) and if you know how to work with cubase, logic, reason you are ready to rock.
For the dj you want evolution then buy cd players a good mixing table monitors and then CDS.
But the dj has always to be updated or the crowd says "old stuff"
well if you see this way the dj normally has to spend more money and djs normally dont get € what a live performance get.

........ there are more more things ekekek

I would prefer a live performance because the artist can really surprise us and inovate ... you never know it's gonna be. A dj it's like an entertainer who is going to mix someone is records and there isn't much htalent on it( and i don't mean in it in a disrespectful way because I have some friends who are dj or trying to be ) but it's my opinion. Hey a3k you were at kindzadza party in Aveiro? that man it really killed me ... what a live(one of the best I have heard)

cheers moonblast.
maybe i didnt write it in the right way.
I like dj´s that understand that their ego is less important then the party...i gave the examples you found strange cause i had a couple of parties down in the algarve where things like that happened!
Definetly those dj´s weren´t professionals!it happened and i got pretty dissapointed...

Anyway..thats not important!
In my opinion the dj in a general sense ( i mean not only in the trance scene) has a function of a entertainer!Surprise the crowd and take them on a trip...make people happy...both liveact and djsets have that goal...

and krokolv..truly you need something like talent to be a good dj..off course u can just play arouund with some nice cd-player with bpm counter...not too dificult..but there is a higher level..and its all about the music!

take it easy

Well a live performance can surprise us and inovate if it is really a live act because in some parties there are no live acts only space bar of computer my friend and thats not good.Preforming a live is not so simple as we thought.
To be a dj is not only the art of mixing but how to create a story and that is the problem for all a good sellection and contruction of set can make the same thing in my opinion.

Peace for all my friends
