ah yes, that one.
just thought you might want to share some personal thoughts or experiences on the matter instead of just telling us what you think other people are doing wrong.

maux, welcome to spi-phi interesting thoughts by john cage!
i rummaged around youtube and found some "old friends". i once saw a documentary on evelyn glennie and it changed (yet again) my way of hearing and undertsnding music. she's a very talented deaf percussionist. below is a video where she talks about listening with your whole body (ah, we're taking one step further!). it's a bit long but i sugggest you let it play while you do some other stuff on the net and catch the interesting parts here and there.
about listening with your body:
nice video, huh? i once saw a group perform playing ambient/dark ambient/drone music. they had speakers situated under a water installation. the soundwaves made the water resonate and form at times complex patterns.
since "the total amount of water in a man of average weight (70 kilograms) is approx. 40 liters, averaging 57% of his total body weight" you might want to think what happens inside your body while being exposed to music or sound waves in general coming from within (singing) or outside.
