hi Saikozaurus this is a nice topic, i'm going to buy a laptop too, i have already a motu ultralite (because i worked with a powerbook g4) and i know that this sound card wants the TI chipset. I tell you i'm going crazy in these days just because surfing the net i can see many problems about laptop even if they have TI chipset.
However toshiba is a great choice but they are under many issues with fan and sound glitches, i know satellite for sure but tecra seems to be good...
HP doesn't have TI chipset but they are the best choice for many people and many told me that it works graet with sound card.
Acer: a friend of mine works fine witha motu traveller, but i don't like acer, they are so cheap and there will be a reason for this!
Sony: for sure, but you know, if you want a powerfull sony laptop you have to pay! Sony makes only few type and the most powerfull type has an HD 4200r/m so you cannot do anything with that!!!
DELL: it was my choice until i read that they have ricoh FW chipset that gives many many problems to every sound card and you cannot buy an external express card fw just because there are issues here too!!!
Asus: i don't think
Macbook and Macbook pro: no problems but i'd like work with cubase so it would be stupid buy an apple and run window, but i tell you the truth, i'm thinking about it all the day!!!
Hope this help
bye |

Its a great trouble for me, to choose laptop. even when I was searching for monitirs it was more simply than now.I also like Dell, but Ricoh is killing me ))) At one moment I choose Siemens-Fujitsu, as I know this laptops has TI controllers, but ... on oficial site I cant find HD 7200 rpm, only 5400
And I dont know what to do... |

Zepto W6214 has it, most of the IBM/Lenovo laptops has it but you should ask that from your retailer.
Mike A: it's true that it might work nicely with some other chip but TI is the only one that MOTU gurantees it works with so it's a safe choice
And you can btw check it from your Device Manager |
