Would have been sweet to catch Clymaxx's night set. That guy is really creative with the track selection. Hope everyone had a wicked time. How was TROGLODYTES?           {':' }Deep Fryer/Squirmtronix{ ':'}

Why is Troglodytes in the middle of the posted lineup?

I would have flown to this from NYC if I knew Troglodytes was playing, OR would have flown him out here. At all parties/festivals that I had attended in my 6 years of trancing, the international headliners would be somewhere around the top, so they wouldn't be hard to miss. This is the case in the vast majority of musical scenes, and I believe is even more critical for such a small scene such as ours.

Please, if your bringing in an international artist, POST THEIR NAME ON TOP OF THE LINEUP. I always glance at the top of a lineup to find out the headliners, and if I don't see anything noteworthy most of the time I don't look at the rest of the lineup, especially for a party on the other side of the country.

Excuse my negativity, this is just an artist I have always wanted to see live.

Artists move around so much that "international" has no real meaning sometimes... Chromatone and Mubali, for example, are supposedly from California but they both seem to spend more time outside California than in it

Actually, International takes on a true meaning when you travel around, and I am not SUPPOSEDLY from California, neither is Chromatone. Both of us put in a tremendous amount of time in the SF scene and still contribute our time and effort to the scene. Just because we are following our dreams that take us outside of where we are originally from doesn't make us any less a product of the scene, so I would rethink that statement.

These artists that came in, do not hold a passport from this country, did not live in this country, and came to this country to visit and share the music created in their homes (not in this country). That pretty much describes an international to me... In fact, that's pretty much what a neocon would consider foreigner....

That would be like saying just because you were born in New York, but live in California that you were not a native of New York.

Troglodytes and Taigan are not at the "top of the line up" because they were not given any respect whatsoever by the promoter of the Liquid Matrix event (which was NOT me for the record). They got shafted pretty badly on their set at the party (played indoors after a brutal location change, even though other headliners AND locals got to play outdoors), and then last night the promoter fooled us all by quickly organizing a small indoor weekly event in SF to have them play, and then not even showing up.

It is a sad story indeed, we had the Swedes here in Cali and didn't get to see them play a proper outdoor set at all. I really hope other party promoters take note here; it is VERY important when a party goes haywire that you prioritize the headlining artists and their hospitality above nearly all else. Throw your silly ideas about "line up flow" out the window cus that's really just yr personal taste any way, and try to think about the party as a whole rather then yourself and your desires.

I have not listened to the music of those artists nor have I been to the event but...

If their music is night time music so that is when they should play even they are international headliners.
And the way I understand is that night time at this party the music had to be played indoors. If the case the way around I am sorry for my mistake. But night time music is for night time day time music is for day time.

I was not the organizer.

But after listening to the artists a little bit. It is for sure night time music, great night time music but still night time.
It would work at sunrise as well, but definitely a better slot is night time. Again here you can argue that this is my private taste-True. But there are people like me as well.

I mean Penta played indoors as well, and he was THE night time headliner at this event was he mistreated as well? So what I think is that the organizers probably had a different direction for the morning line up.

All I am saying is my personal opinion. Again I have not been to the event just stating my conceptions

I think for a crowd heavily populated by seasoned nor-cal trance enthusiasts, their music would be fine in the morning. slightly harder music in the morning is better then music that's designed specifically for outdoors being smothered in an ugly indoor rec-hall. or they could have played saturday afternoon/sunset time when locals were playing before stereographic. hell, couldve put stereographic on during the afternoon and then had swedes do sunset. that would have flowed fine, IMO. it's not like they play glitchy 160+ madness. there is almost no bpm jump from stereographic to their music. one example of many opportunities when they couldve played outdoors. oh well, maybe "next time."

Artist's country belonging can be determined based on the following factors:

* place of birth
* current residence
* your main record label's location

Marketing needs usually dictate which one to use.

We had a blast in cali! Even if the venue was changed, and was not in the forest.. I think it was a good first peek at your scene over there. Next time (and i hope there will be) i`ll come with more open heart and mischief madness for sure.

Thanks everyone for your hospitality, specially Dave & Toni. For putting up with the swedish drunkards, aaaarr!! Big ups to Casey+girlfriend for having us in their awesome apartment in downtown san fran, lots of good smiles and discussions. what a sight!

And the oklahoma trip after was also very good, check out for our plans there next year.. I will post photos on our homepage in a couple of days, to show you how they roll over there. Pretty fucking good people thoose too. Yiiihaaa!!!

Props to mr Mubali for being such a nice dude on the small party last day in San Fran, loved your new tracks!

All in all, i had life-enhancing experiences in the states. Now i am CaveDave 2.0
