Hey ppl, i have this insane idea to install Linux on my old P166. Now it's not for Audio, the only purpose it will have is Internet and Solitaire.
Can someone please point me to some info online regarding this topic?
I am looking for a small, slim installation of Linux, nothing fancy. This computer currently runs Win95 (barely).
I have there: 64Mb Ram, 800 Mb HD.
Thanx in advance           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Cool...Your a good guy

You could always give Knoppix a try. This one can run entirely from the CD without the need to actually install the thing..of course, its a lot beter to install it. I installed it on my laptop..it found drivers automatically for everything, including the video and soundcard which I had problems with before..

I was well impressed with Knoppix.

check it - http://www.knoppix.org

Always up for introducing alternatives to Microsoft

Yes Knoppix is very very good.

And Suse Linux but thats not slim (if you install it complete it some dvds and cds).

Try Knoppix

I got the cd with a comp magazin, and it is amazing! You put it in your drive, start your pc and a hole OS is runnig. Without installing anything.

It is programmed by one guy, i forgot the name (he was in TV).

Amazing!

Oh god, don't install Lindows..that package tries to hard to be like Windows and sets the default user as root..never a good idea..

You can run Solitaire from Wine under Knoppix easily

I don't think so SuperGlue.
Linux is a very powerful operating system(for those who know how to use it's power) written in c++ progamming language based on the unix OS. It was never ment for audio proccesing or 3D action games. And it will work just fine with the older computer parts.
