Ascension ..

So you said the Dj of school will take the all glory + 1 , 2 , 3 Girls later to his room and 'Ethik Mantis' will get nothing ..

I think this is no matter when its become to 128kbps , This is not an masterd 24b version concert of the
philharmonic orchestra of berlin for the coming birthday partys of the king of thailand .

I didn't say anything about quality, I just said that it sucks to have what you post as a work in progress being touted as a completed work.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I say it's the software development guys who ripped it off of SC and are distributing it freely to people.. as a payback from everyone using war3zed software..

They probably got some help from Chuck Norris too do figure out how to do it

But seriously, it's a bummer when something happens to your intellectual property without your acknowledgment and/or contentment, but looking on the bright side, bad advertisement is always advertisement and someone went through the (minimal) effort to crack your song, thus someone thinks it's worthy of pirating! It all depends on your perspective man..

My tracks aren't there... You think that means my tracks aren't worthy enough? Probably not good enough hehe

As a solution I wouldn't quit from SC, it's a good tool to share the music, and it works! I would never be able to show my tracks to the couple hundred around the world if it wasn't for SC (and I would never know which country they came from!). You can just use SC in the way you want: I sometimes put demos on SC, with some sections completely cut out (therefor incompatible for someone to DJ with), or I present incomplete and old versions of my tunes there (no Pro account to update them ), so people can have and enjoy my music, with me always having the upper hand. You come see me play, I'll show you the complete tunes and spice them up a little..

Has no one here ever considered that it's got nothing to do with people "loving" your tunes enough to add it on a torrent but all to do with the fact those leech groups feed on popularity and quantity over quality?

I do not buy into the "Nothing say "success" more then seeing your stuff making its way to torrents around the globe". It's just another excuse in the flood of way too many petty excuses.

Just because your music is found on various torrents does not mean people love your music or find it any different than the rest of the millions of tunes flooding all torrents

Right, plus anyone has a reason to be upset if someone else is profiting off their work.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

"Leechers" are the folks who download stuff, not the ones that put it out .

Also, people who rip your stuff usually give names to the stuff they rip, like "Goa compilation 9",or "Ace ventura 2011 albom",and the names strangely enough, reflect what is inside.Because how strange it sounds, the release groups have reputation to maintain.Release shit stuff and the tracker will kick your ass out.Or no one will download your releases. If you don't have a good music,or if you are not signed and have EP's or albums, most chances you will never find your stuff around respectfull torrents [unless you are one of the guys who do it himself to gain promotion],but at some shit sites who offer your ripped stuff as phone ringtone or for school DJ's.

Anyway, there is shit music all around,90 percent of music out there is shit music (I'm just saying that as a listener now,who tries to update himself on latest releases). So offcourse it will find its way to torrents if its 90 percent of music out there. No point of getting hot headed here .

What is important is to try and make the best music you can make and put 110 into it,and if someone who downloaded your stuff will listen to your music together with shit stuff,he will say "oh nice, who is this artist,I want to know more!".And then maybe he will try to get more of your stuff, and then one day he will maybe even buy your stuff. What is sure that he will go to the party that booked you.

Also, the "I don't buy it" thing you said....Thats what the folks who download stuff also do .
Stigidish stagadash i'm here all week.

I'm a friendly dude you know, send me a PM, we'll talk and you will see that i'm a friendly person, but for now, fuck you and your judgments! It's impressive really, i opened up this thread because i was worried about my music and the safety of soundcloud, and then you come like a pink rosed face smart guy to ask me in a sarcastic way if i'm sure i wasn't the one who ripped my own music just so that more people would become aware that i make music. Now i'm starting to get why so many good people around here turn their backs and just don't post, what for? To have guys like you making questions like that? C'mon.

I've been receiving different answers regarding my concern, nothing made me mad enough to reply like this, so you must really be something special.

I never tried to school no one how it works in music world, because i don't have an inch of my foot into it.

All I said what the people who download it from trackers do (you know, like knowing the difference between leachers and release groups).Jesus what up with egos here.

I don't know how things used to work in the world of music or how they currently work for you, but for me in my world of music it is a massive success for more people to be hearing my tunes...

Say some russian master-ripper or some such bogeyman takes my work (which is put up for free) and releases it somewhere on a torrent, and benefits in some way....be it from ratio on a tracker, to links to his other page - whatever. It *won't* be a significant monetary amount.

However, there is more of a chance for someone to hear my music and go "hey, I like that! I wonder if I can find more." with that shady compilation in existence than without it.

Of course all things being equal I'm sure we would all like to be credited and compensated but seeing as that's probably not going to happen to me I will happily consider it a successful day if I ever see my tunes on a torrent that I didn't myself upload            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
