Isn't it safe to upload to soundcloud?

Narcism? I asked if it was safe to upload to soundcloud, i'm no computer noob and i know most of the stuff you find online you can get using specific tools. But fact is, my tune is there, sure people get to know it, that's great, but on the other hand, someone can easily get to it, even if it is a poor quality file. That's all, so you guys can stop hitting me with stones because i was just shocked, but i guess each oportunity one gets to throw some stones at another person, one takes it.

Shocked and Angry are to me two different things - or at least, they can be. Your OP clearly states that you are angry that someone had the audacity to rip your song from soundcloud and put it up for download somewhere else.

There are a couple of options here to explain your thought process:

1) You are angry that your song is available in low-quality format, as you enabled download of a high quality format directly from soundcloud and you feel that this makes you look bad, as if you're releasing low quality stuff. I get that, that's reasonable - if I put my stuff out there, I make sure its in WAV personally.

2) You are angry that your song is available for download at all, as you have not enabled downloading and wish the song to be listenable-to but not downloadable. I get that too, but if you go this route and people like your song enough to want to listen to it outside of Soundcloud then they'll probably figure out some way to do it - and 99% of the time this will result in a loss of quality. You can bitch and groan about it all you want, but this will happen again and again if the song is not available for download and they want it. It is easy to fix this: enable downloading, or don't share the song!

Regardless if it's option #1 or #2...you are getting free promotion. I doubt any DJ worth his mixer would play a song ripped from soundcloud (which already streams at sub-standard quality)...and if it's just some random joe listening then he probably won't hear the difference in terms of quality...and even if they can, they're probably smart enough to recognize that its a 112 MP3 or something.

This situation is something you have to accept (and IMO embrace) if you are going to post your stuff online. I know many people who would be thrilled to have their stuff 'pirated' and put up somewhere...that means that more people are listening to your music.
