Any underground or commercial labels that have a similar style of releases?

Esp. the tribal styles.

And yes I have checked LSD, Chill Tribe and Interchill...

that's a hard one as there really is noone like Dakini...

Electronic Soundscapes Records has potential but not many releases.

6 Degrees is the opposite, too many releases so you have to sift through to find the gems

One World Music music has a nice global feel to it. Some artists appear on Dakini too.

Trance label Avatar Records has a sublabel for the loungier ethno sounds. Trishula Records sublabel Ajana also for more psychedelic downtempo. electronically nice but not upto the mark "musically" imo.

again ... noone does it like Dakini.

Yes, I do like Dakini Records Probably my favourite label.

Sorry, can't think of any similar labels other than the ones you've mentioned.

Just to help you dig through the cruft...

Adham Shaikh does some excellent chill ethnic sounds, and he has several other albums besides the 'Fusion' released on Dakini.

I can also recommend Bombay Dub Orchestra and Cheb I Sabbah from Six Degrees, my preferred albums from them are 'Three Cities' and 'Shri Durga,' respectively.

Kaya Project and Gaudi are about as ethnic as you'll get on Interchill. On LSD, Dub Trees.

Greg Hunter's works are indispensible - his newish album Metasurfing (released for free I think, look it up), and his older work as Alien Soap Opera.

Some other names... Suns of Arqa, Tabla Beat Science, and Lumin. Especially Lumin if you are looking for 'Dakini-style,' they have two albums, Datura and Hadra, besides the one they put out recently on Dakini.

But I agree, no-one does that ethnic style quite like Dakini as far as I know - there is a certain subtlety and grace that is unmatched.

Oh, one more - don't forget Banco de Gaia! Perhaps he goes off in a slightly different direction than the rest, but he was doing ethnic/techno fusion way back in the early 90's.

Gio mentioned a Dakini Records Drumspyder release in an email a while back.

I wonder if that's fallen through as it seems unusual that there's two new albums out this year. CD baby haven't actually got the above release in stock though.

I got an email yesterday from Gio himself stating that the Drumspyder album is on the way, not date, and the Makyo will follow after that.

Indeed, and I'm pretty sure Gio said they'd be in MP3 and WAV formats for download.

Even thought I'd much prefer the physical CD's, this will have to do in the case of Dakini as I refuse to pay $70+AU for some of them!!           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Indeed Andrew interchill was pretty accurate in saying that cd`s are something of a luxury, certainly for new , leftfieldish items from far off lands.
