Has anyone of you artists performed ever on a hallucinogenic mind expanding trip life on a party?
How was this expirience ?
I think that's not really common but maybe I'm wrong.Just curious.

Try playing music with the hallucinogenic at home first, and then give up
Although you are experiencing your music in a totally different way, it becomes quite difficult to focus on a single task on psychoactive drugs, so orchestrating a complete live set would become a brain killing experience.
At least at home you can press pause
Now, if your live act consists in a couple of preset effects and just twisting a bunch of knobs, then there's not really that much to focus on.
The last thing you want while on the product is to be ridiculized and mocked by the audience

When I first started listening to psytrance I kind of assumed that everyone who made this music was tripping face the whole time while producing. Tried it myself - impossible.
However - mixing music and playing with FX over the top of tracks? with software? fucking rad.

meh - i've seen some "relatively well-known artists" do livesets after a lil' bit of blotter. the sets went very smoothly - no one knew till afterwards when they (2 artists came from the same city, only the one was tripping though, i think) were joking about watching the tracks on ableton shake all over the screen.
not sure how much of it was hyperbole, but the one guy was definitely not sober. i do recall him being very, very into his set though.
as for producing... i find it's more worth my while to listen to others' tracks and pick out what sounds great while tripping, and remember to disect it later. it's hard to translate "that sound that's making my brain do funny things" into "ah, he's doubled his bassline with that percussive synth and created a groove over top of that using hihats, reverse hihats, and other cymbals with those reverse-reverbed squelches blah blah blah" when your brain is doing those funny things.

i cannot speak about lsd, just about mushrooms. I think they are in the same ball park. It's very difficult to concentrate while on it. i simply don't understand anymore what am i doing, who am i? ..... and so on.
Very dangerous when your performing live, except all the audience is also trippin. |

I'd say shoot for a threshold trip (1 blotter of average strength) do your music. Then after your gig down a couple more blotters and continue the rest of your journey

*2 sounds good
Imo producing music on good journey is megafun. Much more clearity and creativity .Each time. But I know some people can't produce anything when they're on a journey.
Acting life without a mic as the transforming medium should be less hmm thrilly maybe..so I imagine it can be exciting to fly while playing.

Though normally can play percussion, perform tripping, one time my mate and me had both took the same and he had freaked out on the decks, as there wasn't enough light to see anything. So he passed it over to me in a panic, which made me stay in a panic also, so we ended up just sitting there all puzzled and got someone who wasn't tripping to carry on.

Djing is fine, but live set, definitely no. Gotta be (pretty much ) straight to sort things out. At the end of the day I'd be a selfish twat to show up tripping my nut off and not being able to even focus on the cursor on the screen being unable to tweak parameters properly, etc.
Its not like rock'n'roll where its cool to fuck up your riff, fall over on your face on stage...etc.
There's a time and a place for everything and I have to be some what straight to perform and avoid messing everyone else's trip by fucking up the live set.
I have the rest of the party to trip to other people's music anyway.

Tried to DJ a couple of times at small private parties while on acid, but have found it practically impossible to make a beatmix under the influence
I know a couple of friends who have played livesets (well, press play in cubase and nothing more) under heavy doses of acid, but I wouldn't do it myself. All kinds of things can go wrong.
