Actually i wanted to point out that if Liam Howlett ,an achieved musician who touched most of the equipment that was made in the recent 20/30 years, decided to move to software than we can safely close all the chit chats about how the software is unsufficient or unprofessional.
And ProTools is merely an instrument to record the material and to edit it.
If you know the sound of Prodigy you must know how important are his words for the software users. I personally didn't need this, i hear those marvelous sounds of software on daily bases, but it's nice to get affirmations from the aces.
Though he stills prefers the good ol' equipment for bass.
And i hear already Nectarios tapping feverishly on keyboard.

I think you're stretching it to say 20-30 years. I dont think Howlett is any older than about 35, prodigy came out with the birth of rave at the turn of the 90s, so if he was about 20 then.... whatever... i'm almost certain he wasnt recording and producing in the 1970s basically. 15 years is probably more like it.
nonetheless i take your point (and agree with it - well, I still hate reason - but thats never been based on a claim that its 'insufficient' or 'unprofessional' per se - only that the interface is the polar opposite of what i want, and the features available are also totally unsuited to what and how i personally produce)

notice that he says there is no replacement for synth(does he realy mean analog ones or just means no soft??) bass ...
so with all do respect to soft synth and reason (i was a user...to dry for me her sound) there is nothing like a good synth!!!

Yes but i meant that he played with most of the electronic equipment that was made in the last 30 years.

ha ha ha!!! who would have thought it.
it seems that me fella braintree geez has taken a rather long time to catch on to the software way of doing things.
i cant wait to hear the new album, its gonna be a great demonstration of analogue v digital.

I would like to argue, that the sufficiency chit-chat is wide open
If we take Liams words as law, then basses (as so many people here speaks of as if it is the only element i PsyTrance) can't be done in Reason. For the REX to work, you need Liam's sample library, which (I'm guessing) could reach the moon if put on CDs, and you could only write 50% of the leads you want... That renders Reason insufficient if anything.
I'm not against software. Software is great - I write softSynths myself (crappy ones) and use them - but please don't make Reason the great saviour because sone guy says it is - which he, by the way, didn't say at all

Reason it´s a great tool to use with Rewire and Cubase... perfect.
As Amygdala wrote, to produce good things on Reason you need good refills.. that´s the difference of Liam.. for sure he has all the killers refills. The other difference on Reason are the new FX´s, with professional quality as BV512 Digital Vocoder, Scream 4 and RV7000 Advanced...
So.. Reason it´s a tool for your job.. don´t be only in Reason cause you will be limited!

obviously he is using reason with a lot of samples.
it's not like he uses reason for everything...
because like he said he loads samples in the rex a lot..
same for drum machine.. he probably has a lot of good drum samples he he.... |
