ok. the south african section of this forum is like lank under siege and fighting at the moment, partly due to myself and others who beg to differ with SA's current scene....
sooo, on that note, lets all be constructive.
take some time and effort not to slag , but rather to have some input in the following:
1. what you would like to see happen to the SA scene in the future
2. your role in making that happen
basically lets look to the future of OUR scene and get some concensicous as to where it might be going if you were in charge.
i rate with all the effort put into argueing , we should be able to come up with somthing good here.

I think its time for another Desert Storm in northern cape daar op die vlakte (Verneuk Pan?) - Burning Man style, everyone comes self sufficient, some good organisation, a kicking sound system, line up, decor and lots of side shows!

I would liek to see more effort.....
In the past....folk used to dress up....and used to make it a FUN event....note ....teh FOLK.....Punters.
There is only so much teh organisers can do to make a party....the rest is up to teh crowd!
I would like to see more money in the scene.
That means more support from the punters....and teh buying of CD's.
The proper paying of DJ's.
I would like to see more responsible partying ...and not just flicking mud. (mud covered chicks can be fine)
And i would also like to see more respect for the artists creating this Wicked music of ours....OURS....South African PsyTrance.....
Not licking their asses.....but understanding their role they play in teh scene.....not just when they KICK the party!
They egg on the rest and push teh envelope..
Lets GO YO!

1. Psychedelic Trance.
preferably stuff that makes you wana tear your face off, but regular psychedelic will suffice for the time being
2. Get outta this country asap and go to a psychedelic trance party |

you're mistaken if you think other countries are more psychedelic. england certainly isn't... and Spain and Portugal aren't. Holland... maybe a bit.
codea - trust me, the grass isn't greener. The music i've experienced in other countries (granted I haven't been to parties outside the abovementioned countries) is, if anything, more "commercial" - which we all know you despise.
But for new environment and new faces its incredible. so i do recomment it!
in the end though SA has the best i've experienced.. although i'm thinking Morocco in August might be siiiick!

as an outsider whos been to parties in England, India, Israel, Holland and capetown (not as an artist i was at the cosmosis after the timecode party) I can say that for me cape town is #1, you dont know how good you have it , dont give me that bullshit that trance isnt psychedelic in south africa , maybe it isnt psychedelic in your mind.
What is psychedelic for you? i really want to understand. |

i think somthing that has weeded its way into the SA scene is this sorta punky , hip hop aggression that exsists in some of the younger generation partiers.
for example, i heard some partier threatening another one near my tent that he was going to get his G-Crew to fuck the other guy up.....
WTF exactly is someone shouting at another partier that he is going to go and get people to fuck that other person up with....please explain? i dont want to go to a party and have to feel worried that some hormoned aggro little kid on a trip is gona loose the plot and cause shit....
now thats just not on....its cos of the commercialism in the sense that since psy parties have gone very commercial, the commercial crowd are frequenting them....the house clubbers, punkers, posers, hip hopers, ravers....with very little real trancers....now i am not saying that trancers are an elite bunch and only they are allowed, but what i am saying is that these new people need to seriously consider changing their attitude if they are going to partake in somthing special....but it seems that they dont really care...and from what i gather the majority of people are only going to trance parties cos its a cool way to get fucked.
its a pity tho....cos it is somthign so special |

I think one must be careful to judge the person standing next to them at a party... i agree there are punks, posers, ravers etc.. but not as many as you think. How do your determine if someone is a "real trancie"? by their clothes? whether they have long hair or dreads? I'm personally as passionate about psy as one can be... the music, the culture, the spirituality, and all the great things that come with it.. and yet i don't dress like a hippy (maybe some saddle bags when im on shrooms and scared of losing my shit)... but other than that if you saw me at a party standing there you wouldn't think i was a "real trancy." don't get me wrong.. i see the people you see.. and you can read a person's attitude from their appearance and way they dance etc.. but be careful to label people so quickly.
but basically i agree. and disagree. and agree.

i dont look like a "trancer" either, but at the same time, pure at heart i am one, its just ones attitude towards the whole affair and music.....and yes alot of posers are dressing like trancers, but whatever....
my main concern is this aggressive attitude i see, not sure if its the drugs or just kids letting out , a bit like they do at D n' B parties, but all the same its not enjoyable for someone as chilled as me. |

agree with l337 - my main wish is to see aggro ppl thrown out of parties - its just really out of place seeing fights and stuff going down. I think party organisers must hire security who are prepared to be more effective in this. |

jeez guys, I've ben away from Cape Town for a while let me tell you it's terrible to here there are fights (are there really). I went to parties for around ten years there and don't remember any. Who cares if there are "posers", we're all just people.
