I think it may be interesting to write here your strong and weak points in music creation. When the things are written down, they become more clear and you better know, what do you need to improve. Also, if some two persons will find that their weak and strong points are mirrored - this may be a chance for a perfect collaboration
Ok, I start.
My strong points:
- composition (melodies, rhytms and stuff)
- mixing (i think i manage it all to sound decently somehow)
My weak points:
- synthesis (it's hard to me to tweak out of the synth exactly what i want - i often compromise. Lack of practice perhaps, though i'm rather long time here)
- speed of work (1 track for 1 month is average for me)
- finishing a track (sometimes i feel that i need to work more on details, but don't do it:)

cool topic and nice avatar hehe
I speak for music at all, since I am complete beginner and unsatisfied with my psytrance but I do also other stuff which I'm almost satisfied with.
My strong points:
good times when they are its sometimes 3 complete songs in a day ,composition, energy, freakyness own sample work.
My weak points:
bad times - one song in a year .. there were some years like that.
mixing - it hardly sound as I wish it to be,depending on lack of expirience in own productions,
- regarding only psytrance - almost all is weak so far but I have fun to try it all by own.

hehe i wouldnt say im strong in any part of music production, whatever...
good:
-making leads/melodies (i dont know how, but most of the time i got some good ideas)
-mixing (im a perfectionists, what also handycaps me in other parts of production...)
-sythesis (i dont know much, but i got good ears and get out cool sounds most of the time)
bad:
-workflow (our tracks need more than 1 month... also, because of my perfectionism^^)
-songstructure (got some good ideas, but in the end it is not perfect and we could do much better)
-getting more into the psysceene. (would help alot with production... but we only got this forum and ourself^^)
-getting stuck in some parts of the track (this situation leads to not very good songstructure, if we dont get a perfect solution for it)

I like this topic, will be nice to just write this down here and look at it later.
Good:
-Synthesis (somehow I've always been able to come up with some cool psychedelic sounds).
-Workflow (I've been able to make better sounding music while spending less time on each track as I've progressed).
Bad:
-Mixing (getting better, but I still feel this is a weak point of mine).
-When I write a really cool sounding part or couple parts of a track, I listen to it over and over again rather than actually working on it.
-Motivation to work on music (I love production, but wish I was motivated more often to work on it- I have free time, but sometimes tv wins).

Oh let's say... after 3 years of doing this i believe I'm:
Good at:
- Synthesis (since i got obsessed with synths and i got myseld a nord micromodular i forced my self to understand it and now i pretty much get anysound i want)
- Melodies and Harmony (3 years ago i dodn't know shit about this, now i can compose and i'm good at it).
- Workflow (i name every channel, use colors, use folders, i have a nice way to do everything specially in sx3)
Bad at:
- Speed (1 month per track... that's too much for me, i believe i always have the main idea at first, wish i just could stop listening to the whole track that much and produce intensively).
- Breaks (wish i knew more about drums so i could create other grooves apart from 4/4 patterns so i could create more interest in parts of my tracks).
- Mixing n EQ (still learning a lot on eq and compressors, i wouldn't say i completly suck at this but i'm not good either)

Weakness - melody composition (I can't read music or no any scales lol, I go by how it sounds, takes longer for me tho)
I get stuck in the nasty loop syndrome, but my mixing skills are improved eachtime I spend 3-4hours in the loop syndrome hehehe.
I start with sumthing brilliant (kick and bass) then an hour later I've gone Ott with the processing lol and not saved the original. So I need to learn to leave it.
Strengths- I have the confidence and the vision to see me through this long journy of music creation.
I have a purpose and belief through music.
my mixing now seems more methodical,I can pin point where a notch is needed rather than sweeping through the spectrum. (My ears are much more sensitive now to the spectrum)
Same with compressors now,the blanket of ignorance has been removed from my eyes. (If my kick lacks punch from my synth, deploy a comp and tweak attack)
My bass synthisis is good,it's because I've spent the most time on also kick. I can now get these too elements in tune and rolling as one.
I love sound design through the use of fuked up routing and fx... experimenting is key
I'm never going to give up! - no such thing if this is what you are ment to do.
I'm addicted to synths. my first one was CReamware pro12. My last wuz virus ti. I now own none as I had to sell them.
(weakness-lack of funding)

acidus why don't u use kontakt or battery then fill your keyboard with some one shot hits of leads and percs, asign each shot to different panning,fx etc and then just jam out on your keyboard or pads to get a cool beat goin

This a killer topic here! thanks for opening Medea
ok after 3 years on the music production i think this are my attributes:
Good At:
- Synthesis (i pretty much how to know the "way" to reach a sound i want,at the begining there is kinda this "instinct" of moving knobs in a crazy way,i did a tutorial couple of weeks ago ( i didnt explained anything at all i think i will add some annotations on it. if u want to see its here
- Basslines ( i dont really know but ppl like my basslines xd )
- Workflow (im gettin more and more organized making folders for each little wav of any kind of sound i made/sample/speech/ or whatever i need to save, also i have a wierd estructure in building the track but i got used to it and now its my way hehe.
- Speed (ill say in 1 week + some days i finish a track (not working Everyday of that week) there are days that im just not into production and if i force it,only crap will come out )
- Mixing (im getting alot better now,my ears are just aware of things i didnt hear some months ago, detecting little distortions or any kind of missplaced sound or whatever that is against my ears pleasure)
- Melodies (i got better since i started in piano classes wich i stoped going (lol) and can write melodies easier/n sometimes i just cant, probably when im not in the mood for production)
Bad At:
- Intros (i have a wierd structure of "building the track",sometimes i just made like the middle part of the track to the end and i dont know anything about an intro, probably i always do a pad going up hehe)
- Bad mood for production (sometimes IM JUST NOT, i can spend 3 days on my house on the pc without touching FL )
- Probably ALOT of things i dont know that i will gain thru epxerience

Hey! Nice topic
My strong points i think is Creativity and to experiment with different kinds of music and sounds...
My weak points i think is mixing and understanding my instruments and FX in depth.. i believe that this has to do with that its very time consuming and i most often have bad focus and self-discipline!
But i will try to change that
