ive finally realized that a bassline with too plugins with a tiny amount of eq a tiny amount of compression, sounds much better with masses of everything.. agreed?

just so many people are stating do lots of these u need lots of that... mmm no

the most important thing is to get the synth settings right imo (oscillators, envelopes...)

only when you think you can't get them sounding much better begin to add fx...i mostly use an eq for removing unnessecary frequencies, maybe another, more colourful eq to boost some stuff slighty (but only sometimes) and MAYBE some compression (only if it's really needed)...
in some cases distortion or some other fx are also a good possibility (f.e. quadrafuzz, vintage warmer or sonic maximizer)

rapture! 2 osc's, bit of detune on one, hardly any eq and done!

Bassline crafting is often much like cooking good italian food: few but good ingredients served at the right time with a glass of wine and basta!           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

True that, especially in arrangements. I like space for the sounds to breathe, simple and devastating synth riffs where you can hear every intricacy of the reverb fields. I like thumpy kicks and big, driving basslines.

Good source and a bit of compression should be all you need...           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

1+ right on, let it breathe... and yes less is more and if its sits just fine by itself leave it alone,
