so, what with the progression of psytrance into a more techno-y feel, what of the track lengths?

for that matter, who made the idea up that the tracks should be 7-8 mins +?

what are ya'lls thoughts on how long tracks should be and why?

personally, i tend to like 8-9 minutes with 30 second to 1 minute intros, cause i'm the laziest DJ you'll ever meet.

thoughts? opinions?

Trance is for 6:30ish to 8minutes
thats a standard lenght

Under that would be more of a techno subgenre

Personally i like the 1min intros and 30 min outros with double climax and spam a lot of breaks but just enough to make it feel powerful and all and not repetitive and flow-killing if thats even a word            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

personally its hard for me to find 9+ tracks that are interesting all along
i do my best in 5:30 - 7:30 and the shorter ones are more interesting imo           www.sattelbattle.com

For me it really depends on the number of sounds I want to use and how much variation I can get out of them (including breakdowns) without getting boring.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I don't think anybody 'came up' with the 7-8 minute mark. It just works well.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

I think it has to do with the first and last part of the beat since it is commonly used to mix the track with another so there is almost 2 to 3 minutes in each track that are just dj tool then you have the real meat of the track that is variable but most of the time you have 4 to 5 minutes of the real composition.

Not a rule but kinda make sense...
