I just realized a good trick for getting a better feel of how long a delay/look ahead actually is (up to 200ms). On Ableton Live's Spectrum you can just change the refresh rate and watch the waveform update slower.
It's at least neat to play with to see how low of a refresh rate you can notice lag at. Hopefully this helps someone...
