Ehm... I can't tell you exactly what he's doing to make that lead but I can tell you what I do for vocal leads... and I think my way sounds much better.
If you have a filter plugin which allows you to have 3 band pass filters routed paralell, then that's great.
I just send a sound to 3 buses each with a band pass filter assigned to it, the idea being that you can target three seperate frequency zones within one sound.
You can do this with a regular 2 filter synth targetting just 2 frequencies but I think that 1 extra adds a whole world of clarity.
Anyway I'm going to write a list of a few vowels just to give you an idea, but to be honest I get the most interesting results when I just go crazy with it. The actual sound is in brackets, I've just used a word around it to highlight the pronounciation.
F(ee)t- 270,2300,3000
S(i)t - 400, 2000,2550
V(e)t- 530, 1850, 2500
c(a)t - 660, 1700, 2400
c(ar)t - 730, 1100, 2450
h(ur)t - 490, 1350, 1700
b(oo)t - 440, 1000, 2250
So if you automate your filters you can make sounds like "ear" "ooee" and so on.
There is a simpler way to get rough vowel sounds like in the track in your thread, but this is a pretty good outline of the physics involved.
Follow this and you will have some very convincing vocal sounds.
Obviously the narrower the band width, the more clarity the vowel will have, but wider bandwidth tend to sound fatter. |

Any filter plugin really. I just use multiple instances on 3 seperate buses.
I think Antares allows for 3 filters in paralell though. |

did you try the WOW vst from Sugar Bytes?
It has this special Vowels mode! you can run any sound trough it, and it will start speaking. it has 9 vowels i think:
U, UE, O, OE, A, A:, AE, E, I.
you can automate it manually, or via envelopes or via step seq. immense possibilities.
