how about managing a page that shows the latests posts since member's last entry?
i'm a member of ACT forum - www.act.co.il
and i find this very very usefull.
u don't have to go throughout every section in the forum, to c what's new....it's good for any one that likes to b up dated!!!

How about an extra feature for this latest posts page - the user will be able to 'subscribe' to certain sections and only those will show up in the latest posts page.
This way we won't get the whole page full of 'Top 10' posts or posts from sections that are of no interest for us.
(Hey, if I managed to think of a simple way to implement it, so can you  )

instead of subscribing latest posts may be grouped by topic or forum name ...
so you will not get a list of hundreds posts
after not logged in during one week )
It also looks more simple to implement than subscribing. I'll see how it can be done.
OR
it may be one of search option:
checkbox, saying that you are looking only
for posts since your last visit...

Search by date will be useful and not harmful too much.
But subcribe option to areas is nessesary, you know if you go for a week you should turn it off. Moreover, I will not explain here aboout mail rules and filters, that could be usefull in this case.
Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. |

imo it should be a page and you check what forums you would like to see and "violla" you get the unread msgs in those forums

So, what's up with this function? I also would find this very useful. In all the other forums I visit, I only use this function to check for new posts/topics.
