Ok, i'll give u the bullet points
Bassline is pretty much all over the place imo, cut back on the sub and boost it around 150 - 200hz.
there's too much of it, i can't figure out where sounds are in the mix. Try some more spacing too. Kick is lacking strength too..
Imo (this is purely taste), the track doesn't give you any time to breath, to relax. it's constantly on at full speed. In edm, you need some surprises, some breaks and builds. if you keep that energy constant throughout the track, it'll just tire the listener.
The snare doesn't sound really good to me, i'd choose a different sample. that sounds like a sidestick.
The drum pattern sound a bit weird. I'd settle for a drum loop or some more traditional patterns, such as the K-H-K-H-K-H-K
That's all i have, the idea sounds good, but there's just too much happening...

Yep I don't have a decent sub set up so mixing the low ed is pretty difficult, plus neighbors as well. Thanks for those suggestions on cutting and boosting at those frequencies.
Never thought about the "breathing" part of a track, wow. I kinda like my music right in my face being a metalhead, but that makes a lot of sense.
Second person to suggest changing the snare, decided to use a stock one instead, def not working I can hear it too.
The patterns evolves throughout the whole thing, with the hats starting on the backbeat
k-k-k-k
--h---h
----s--
and then evolving to k-h-k-h. Is it really not working, or just sounds wierd? I'm all for traditional patterns but like to hear something different as a song is starting.
Thank you for the bullet points. Very much appreciated. http://soundcloud.com/short-circuit

You being a metal head is very clearly hearable here.
It has a like 3min long guitar solo haha, nice riffing mate but it needs a bit more breaks and shifting stuff around. Also the guitar was a bit tough on my ears, it was a bit piercing. |
