Hi, I was wondering if theres a way to reduce latency while playing something or turning knobs etc.

Sometimes I cut the tempo in half to do a recording, it helps but never perfect.

I thought that soundcards were supposed to reduce latency but since I got one (Ultralite) I havent noticed any difference.

I think I didnt set something up the right way maybe.

Thanks.

Might be your asio bit size.

Make sure your asio driver is setup properly.
If you don`t have an asio driver for your soundcard try asio4all.

Best bet is to set your bit size for your asio driver in the driver setup.

One more thing you can do if your running XP is to rightclick "my computer" klick the tab "advanced" then "settings" in the performance area, press advanced again and set "processor scheduling" to "background services"

Logic 7&8:
Logic Pro/Preferences/Audio. Choose the Devices tab and inside it the Core Audio Tab. I/O Buffer size, choose 256 Samples or lower.

The latency will be reduced, do notice that at some point down the numbers you'll start hearing clicks and Logic might complain too, in that case go back to a higher setting and make a mental note of the best latency you can have with this size of project.

There's a chance your project will demand a bigger buffer as it gets bigger and more processing power is needed (reverb is the one of the biggest CPU consumers for example), in that case, again, set a higher buffer size (more samples) and make a 2nd mental note of the setting etc.           YEEEEES!

The MOTU is more than adequate for the job. It's not a soundcard issue, it's a software setup issue.           YEEEEES!

I used to get zero or very low latency with a Sound Blaster 32

It`s setup as Ohmline said
