Great topic philip! I always liked in a special way those ambient tracks in trance albums cause whatever they try to do - you hear the roots of this music belongs to a trance artist. 
I also made two compilations that has a mix of these kind of tracks..
I'll throw a few good ones: son kite - aiwana (downbeat mix), mos - gone, brain bubbles - deep thoughts, amphasis - here comes the rain, analog pussy - federal galactic union, morphem - actinium 227, sonic body - end of summer, future prophecy - green side of me, oforia - new point, pleiaidans - seven sisters, x-dream - out of your control, activate morlack - gimme some more, sphere - rotation and.. many more.

Federal Galactic union by Analog Pussy is awesome, also the message, Radial blur by Astral projection from goa Vibes 2, New aura by Tandu from the middle of Multimoods, Relaxed vortex by X-dream, and some others i can't think of right now.

Muses Rapt - Spiritual Healing
half of the album is ambient, and the best there is!
Also Psysex's last album had the Koopa Troopa track in the end, a very dubby track!

You can't really classify this track as ambient, it's more like down tempo. It just doesn't have an ambient feel to it, it's darkish like the rest of the album. Just slower.

maybe everything isn't ambient but those are slower and classic:
hidden track on hallucinogen - twisted
and last track on:
cosmosis - intergalactic
jaia - blue energy
the mystery of the 13 crystal skulls
