Can I buy a new soundcard for my laptop, because the existing one is connected to the motherboard -does that mean its not possible to work with new soundcards?

10 x in advance

hmmm, yep, afaik its the only way to do it
unless ya buy a tower to house the soundcard and attach it to the laptop somehow... if that is possible???

defeats the purpose of having a laptop tho...

you can buy pcmcia card, with no problem.
you can have card by:  echo, rme or motu.

on board card doesn't have to do anything with what you can add.

go for RME Hammerfall. cheaper, better, and the PCI interface doesn't cost too much - if you work on the regular PC/Mac too.
