I think alienware is overpriced..

I would get at least the following minimum specs:

Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz Processor with 4MB L2 cache & 667 MHz FSB
1 GB RAM
A 7200 rpm harddisk

The rest is up to you but this should be the bare minimum for the laptop you're considering to buy..

I don't know about prices in Israel but usually Dell have got good prices and are pretty reliable..           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

The core 2 duos are very powerfull indeed!
Minimum 1 GB RAM, preferably 2.
You can live with an internal harddrive of 5400 rpm if you have a usb2/firewire hardrive with 7200 speed in adition to run your audiofiles.

I have a pentium m 1,7, and it's working fine for me! faster then a p4 2,8 ghz stationary.

i dont think its overpriced.. for the core2duo 2ghz 4mbcache you pay around 1250 euros .. that cheaper than the most "normal laptops"
and they use only the best´parts for their notebook.. i will get myself one in the next few weeks! i am still looking what laptops are around but @ the moment i think its the best value for the money! if you find something cheaper in price with the same cpu, please contact me!

2 gb ram
Hard disk 7200 rpm

Alienware is mainly for gamers. unless thats what your after.

if your gonna use it for a live, and want to use an Echo card, make sure the machine has a PCMCIA (AKA CardBus) Type 2 slot.
