with this kind of budget I would buy a cheap Macbook from Apple.

why?

OS stability.
Good performance.
no bullshit software to wreck your system.
Shiny apple logo on the back.

sriously... on this kind of system your are looking for reliability. adn I think the mac rules over any other.

Hi!

For me the best laptops for making/playing portable music are made by RAIN:

http://www.rainrecording.com/

(Europe: http://www.rainrecording.co.uk/)

They are a little above your budget, but they're worth it.

The reasons why are on the site.

Don't forget that nowadays power full computers are mainly made for gaming. They put the graphics with a higher priority, while sound goes to the end of the line. You want high cpu, lots of ram, a high cache and a graphic card that wont use your ram. Without the Intel core 2 duo, AMD 64 is the best choice. But 2 good intel is better then 1 great AMD processor. " Gb RAM DDR2 is perfect. 100Gb hard drive is good, but I strongly recommend an external drive for home.

I have a http://www.rainrecording.com/1-877-MIX-RAIN/store/product.php?productid=16136&cat=271&page=1 and it's just great.

But with your budget I would stay with a http://www.rainrecording.com/1-877-MIX-RAIN/store/product.php?productid=16217&cat=272&page=1

man I am sorry but these rain looks WAY over priced.

http://www.rainrecording.com/products/livebook-pro

for 3.600 dollars you can buy the top of line Macbook pro 17" with all extras and will have change!

I don't know. but it is the way I see it!

ye instead of the rain i would go for the macbookpro for sure
if you only want a windows pc and want somthing that bulk then there is hp dragon to

but again ur budget is 1000usd which i think wont let you grab good specs

have a macbookpro myself ... runs perfect also runs smooth with wondows (just a few bugs)            Nocturnal Wizardz Recs
Bhooteshwara Records
Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.
