With 1200$ on a desktop computer you can have a really powerful tool. No more worries about CPU limits.
For that money you can also include a RAID solution for the backup.

^(edit: @pipe&slippers) Or the refurb discounts. They're in perfect condition and you're probably better off with one than a new one, since they're more thoroughly checked. Got my refurb Macbook for like $800 USD with the student discount too.
Depends if you play live or are going to be playing live soon too. You can get a lot more for your money with a custom built PC, but it would suck to have to spend a bunch of money again on a laptop when you want to get a live set together.

Flack and Wizard, where can I get that? Would love excactly that, custom built, without a lot of bull and just what I need to have a dedicated DAW!
Also, what are the specs of what you just got Wizard?
Kane, I am planning on playing live sometime, but just really torn , I also finally want a computer without compromises.
