						| I've got an mbox mini 2 which I picked up for about $US200 on sale in the states which sounds pretty decent for its price range.
 If you run windows you need xp sp2 though, it won't work properly with sp1 or lower.

						| The soundcard has nothing to do with the style of music.
 You could produce any style just using the integrated sound chip and asio4all. Not a good option anyway, but at least it works quite descently.

 A good soundcard is defined by it's tech specs(inputs, outputs, preamps, ad/da conversion, type of interface) and of course by how good and stable its drivers are(low latency is taken as granted anyway).

 As for the laptop, today's even entry level models are very efficient on running the standard DAW applications. The problem appears when you start throwing in vsts, fx which are cpu and ram hungry and playing back many channels of audio at the same time.

 So, your skills, level and complexity of production will determine how powerfull your laptop should be.

 If you are starting now or have little experience, i'd say that it's more than enough.
              A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |

 If you want to produce professional sound you'd better have professional gear. That's it.
 For many years i tried to reduce the cost of my setup...but pro-audio gear is very expansive, so save your money and be patient !

 Laptop----> Macbook Pro or Macbook
 Soundcard---->Motu, RME.

              Nocturnal Wizardz Recs Bhooteshwara Records
 Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
 Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life,craving for more.
