Hey dude, quite a rant there!
-Someone already mentioned integrity. Just worry about your own. Not everyone has it, but it's none of your business. If people know that you're solid, dependable, and an all-round good mate, you're set. This shit gets noticed (if it's genuine and you keep it up). Anyone who thinks it doesn't is still living in high school. And there's a lot of idiots in this scene still living in high school.
-The thing about artists claiming not to use substances - man, that's not limited to artists/organizers. And it pisses me off - comon,' just come to terms with it. Either your usage is moderate and healthy, and you are alright with talking about it, or it's abusive and unhealthy and you're keeping it a secret. You ain't helping yourself OR the scene by doing the latter.
-Gotta pick a bone with you about the business cards things. Pulling out a business card for filter is great advertising. Whenever I get a business card from a mate (or someone new at a festival) I tell them that is exactly what I'm going to do with it - but I'll always mention it when I take it out of my pocket. "Tonight... we're burning so-and-so's card - he's playing a set later... let's smoke this one while he's rocking the dancefloor" etc.
Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

I'd say for your sake only take bookings from people you know or through references. Sometimes you might have to demand a contract, and if it doesn't happen it was probably better to stay out of it anyway.
Simply making sure you know exactly what you're getting into will help avoid a lot of problems/ bad bookings.
If the promoter is legit, they will act professionally, if they don't share details with you that are relevant to your participation take that as a red flag and don't go any further until you have assurances.
There are plenty of normal expectations to have of promoters which shouldn't be taken as outrageous demands, especially if you are playing out of your country.

indeed! The time he spends rolling that joint hell look at your business card attentively. Which is a lot more than most business ccards can say for themselves.
But, why the hell do you need business cards to get gigs???

it's just integrity. you obviously have it. loads of people don't. you just need to associate with the ones that do. if people act like idiots, don't hang around with them, and find better people. acquire a sharp sense of discrimination, set your B/S detector to the max, and most importantly, just keep it real and make the music you want to hear!

Lesson no.1: dont give a fuck about labels, they are obsolete this days, there is absolutly no motive what so ever you should sent stuff to labels, they cant pay you because they dont make money from it, and even thouse who offer you split cuts are fucking with you because they will allways argue that they are not making money and they spent more than they earned on the mastering and cover art.
Lesson no.2: yeah its a hipocrite world where we are living in, and the humans have natural selfish behaviour... unless you have something to offer people will not want anything from you...
even promotors, if a promoter might like you... its for some reason, or you are famous and can giving certain garantees that people will show on a party or your music is really good and you garantee he will have nice reviews from his party...
remember, people will not like you just because they want to help you, or because they think you are nice guy, they are not your parents and they dont give a fuck about it.
Lesson no.3: if your motivation about making music is to have status quo or making money, they your wasting your time, there is a tone of producers nowadays, 99.999% of them is not making real money from it, instead they wast time and money trying to build homestudios that they will never pay with the money they will make from music, because they will make none...
Lesson no.4: even if you are good making music and assuming the promoters might like you, you are missing something very important, Promoters and label managers dont like Spammers, people who doesnt make anything else in their live besides spamm their "work" or content to every mail box, every soundcloud account, what so ever... people who do that stuff are not taken serious, because that behaviour gives a sense that your selling your self out cheap, and like i said... there are 10000000 producers out there, they simply dont need you to contact them, they contact you in case they are interested... thats how it works
most of people think they should contact every label manager to let them known their "amazing work" but most of people dont realize how shity their music is, because even they dont have real idea about what is top knoch and what is miserable or either the only opinions they had were from suspicious friends wich instead of give them a nice correct review, they just try to make people happy saying... "woooo thats an amazing sound"
*its a pitty you didnt put your content here, i would gladly give you a right review
Lessons no.5: its hard world in the music bisness, dont whine about it, accept the game as it is... |

i concur with most things said here.
the "business" of making music sucks ass. and getting gigs is even worse, especially if you're not a known socialite. My inspiration comes from nature and introspection so i live away from my home city and rarely come out to the gatherings. so even though the majority of promoters in my home scene know who i am, know that i make music, and know that its good, i get zero bookings because i don't do anything to help them out. its all a big circle jerk on the local scene, from what i can tell, and probably the same is true on the national/international scene. I'm not bitter about it, though, because I am choosing not to stoop to the level of ass-kissery required to play out.
my very few experiences playing at shows and festivals have been on a scale from "meh" to "this fucking sucks." I also cannot stand dealing with these fake ass promoters and whatnot. i can be a bit socially awkward at times anyway, and these situations with promoters/crews/etc. become rather nightmarish for me real quick. Its kinda scared me away from seeking out any gigs in the future.
people who say labels are obsolete are correct to an extent, but not completely. they offer a LOT of exposure that you just can't get as an independent artist. everyone assumes you suck if you don't have a label behind you, and its impossible to get people to promote you or blog about you.
its hard to stay motivated, man. music is almost completely worthless to people now. they listen once, and then throw it away, like a paper plate. maybe a real good paper plate gets used 2 or 3 times, but then it gets thrown away.
i just keep making music because songs keep popping into my head, its what i've always done, and i've got nothing else better to do.

Most of the problems i think that happen is because of us...
If all the artist ask for contracts always they want a gig, and all artist fight for the rights that we deserve, maybe all people start working "better".
The music business maybe suchs... but i dont beliave that the band X ultrafamous live the festival without all contracts rights completed...
Fucking people exist all over the areas. I just think that psytrance scene facilitates too much.
In the end.. Even in the world of psytrance laws exist.
im just a little guy who are trying to enter that world, so dont give to much credit to what i have say it
