It is indeed a very powerful system, but comes at a high price in both dollars and time needed to learn it. Sound is second to none when we are talking digital stuff and many of the features are found nowhere else.

Ever wondered what they use in hollywood and major game studios?

As far as programming it goes though you can do some simple stuff real fast, but simple is no fun is it? It will take some getting familiar with smalltalk and capytalk (plus maths in general) to get closer to the full potential. Not a beginner setup by any stretch of the imagination.

The UI is somewhat quirky and outdated and it carries with it some idiosyncrasies that for sure takes some getting used to.

I´d say this is for when you are tired of the regular sound palette of modulated saw wave sounds. I felt exactly like that for a good while and then i bought it. Not something i regret for one second, but like i said i felt i had already exhausted other means of getting what i want.

It is in fact quite a bit older than most stuff used for psy. Apart from the new systems the old one was around since ´98 and it has been developed since the middle of the 80´s, thus predating the nord and the virus by at least a decade. My question is why this has had so little interest in a musical genre that was built on the steady advances of technology much more than others were.

@monno

i guess the combination of high price for the hardware/software and the hefty learning curve, considering not sooo many here are professional sound engineers or know how to code, makes this a product for professional industry use more or less..           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

True there. It does strike me as coming across as a slightly elitist setup and the company seems to put development over advertising and high volume sales (which i for one appreciate)

Anyways it really is one of those things that do something unique and so well but it has the potential of being a very expensive doorstop or paperweight depending on the user. I think i am somewhere in between doorstop and intermediate user at the moment, but it has forced me to learn way more theory that i´d expected in order to really enjoy using it.           Mastering available here:

They most definitely do

It somehow reminds me of Max MSP, but the user interface seems a lot easier... much less elitist imo ... It certainly looks like one could have a lot of fun with it...

Interface is a little less academic and rulebound compared to Max (the environment takes care of a lot of housework on it´s own compared to Max). Resynthesis using sinewaves is very much making me all warm and tingly and i have barely begun to scratch the surface. Morphing sounds together and all sorts of general audio mayhem weee. Can´t wait until i am back home, so i can pick up where i left off.           Mastering available here:
