i want to buy a synth and ks rack seems to me a good choice.does any of you has it?

Why buy the k-station when u can buy the software version V-Station for ALOT less money... It means more work to get the same sound but it saves you the $$$

This has been discussed in a way, but the ks-series has'nt convinced me of it's sound. I've heard some demo clips though. I've played with v-station, but i can only pull one sort of sounds out of it. Can you please name artists that use the ks-series synths or give me a clip or a track that has those sounds!? I don't have a possibility to try it out, cause my local retailer doese'nt have it. Im planning to make melodic goa with a spice of full-on or something. Alesis ion or novation ks-x and why? |

Oh my god, this synth is realy shit! I had them one month an year ago and i say. NO MORE! It has very could sound. One part is good - filter section + overdrive, that is all. No presets for download from net. Don't buy please:-) |

Oh-oh!...
The question is what you really look for in a synth, T-Lynx?
I agree that the K is not so large as NordLead, Virus, Waldorf (R.I.P), Andromeda and big machines like that, but it's really easy to carry it everywhere and not so expensive as big ones!
The Leads are quite good, the filters are good (12 & 24 dB), 3 Osc, 2 LFOs and the envelopes are very interesting to use, too!
The effects part is quite strange : Reverbs are clearly horrible, but the delay and distortion are ok.
(T-Lynx, did you try to insert a mic, to use the Vocoder?...)
The arpeggio part is nice, too, with several range and many possibilities.
But, please, be sure that if you look for massive pads or drones, don't get it!...
It's a tiny synth, very cool, and easy to insert in a mix...
I like it, it's ok...

ok first of: ks is different from k station.
KS has 16 voice poly + 4 part multi, while k station has 8 voice poly and 1 part multi (k station is a keyboard version of a-station).
KS is more like: superbassstation + drumstation + a station + k station.
As for ks being cold, that's not entirely true, i've said this on other topic about ks4 and i say it again: sounds on ks are as good as your programming skills go. And pads and drones on this thing are no worse then on Ion or MS2000 if not better. One other thing, don't compare ks to v-station, hardware indeed sounds alot lot better, not to say anything about vocoder and ability to process external signals.
As for arpeggio, it kicks ass, with ability to trasmit note on note off messages, 30 bassline or chord patterns - fully editable, plus there's 30 presets for drums. Hopefully with new OS, there's gonna be even more cool features for it.
Oh and KS accepts V-station, A-station, K-station sound patches, and there are plenty of places on the web you can download sounds for it. Try yahoo groups.
