Release Notes:
Krusseldorf is Simon Heath, a diverse genre-crossing musician and producer working on many projects in different constellations and with 18 full length albums behind him over the years and many more EPs and single releases. Besides Krusseldorf, two of his more famous projects are Atrium Carceri and Za Frûmi.
Aleph Zero is proud to have Krusseldorf join its family, following releases in Beats & Pieces, Iboga and Sofa Beats. From Soil to Space is an album where we feel Simon has really reached a new height in his musical creation. He presents here a deep musical journey ranging on wide spectrums on many levels, as the album name aptly explains. It’s challenging and yet dreamy, psychedelic and atmospheric, journeying through dark depths, contemplative moments and optimistic caressing melodies. The music is always very visual and highly cinematic, and there’s always another layer to discover.

Fantastic. Really looking forward to this.
Was re-listening to Bohemian Groove the other day and checked Krusseldorf's site to see if there was any progress on this album's release but found nothing.
Thanks for all the info!

Really excited abouyt this. Definately gonna put out a review I think. I am little worried though last album was perfect, can he reach the same level again? Only listened to first sample track and what I heard reallly reassured me though.

Agreed. Compared to this one the last one sounds "cheesy", even so it deffenitly was not cheesy. |

Simon's prior releases have been very precious to me. I've been waiting for this release ever since it was first announced.
I dared to listen to some of the samples and indeed, the glitch has been knocked up a notch - which is good, it's what makes his stuff so mesmerizing. Ought to be beautiful, this.

Decided that I couldn't really wait for a physical copy, so I got the digital version from Bandcamp.
Man, this is bloody awesome. I fell in love halfway through. I'm not sure whether or not I was just in the right mood, but this really impressed me. I've been a bit stressed out lately, came home feeling sort of anxious. Put this on and during the listening experience something just went *click* in my head - no worries, no anxiety, just peace and acceptance.
I feel that the album is overall calmer in ambience than Bohemian Groove, more laid back. Darker and more melancholy, but in a positively charged manner. Too early to name favourite tracks, but I truly began appreciating this work only after the fifth track - that is to say, tracks six through thirteen. This opinion is bound to change, though.
Based on initial listening this does beat Bohemian Groove, which was itself quite a gem. The production is crisp and precise. Mastering is top-notch, as is to be expected from Huby. Warmly and whole-heartedly recommended - phenomenal stuff. |
