Hi!
I know there were lots of topics about this, but they almost always go OT, and i cant figure out the key advantages of these two monitors ;P
I would like to ask which of them should i stick with in trance music?
I heard that RP8 have overhyped bass and that HS80M have very little of it, so i dont know what to choose...
Is it worth having too much bass, or is it worth to have it too quiet?
I want only one of these two, no behringers or any other noisy piece of hardware, i cant wait longer, and do not have money for a sub.
Which should i choose? and why?
Thanks :] PEACE! |

i use the hs80ms, and my roommate has the rp8s.
i prefer the hs80ms mainly because it's got a cleaner sound, the rp8s are nice for listening (he's a DJ, so that's how they get used) but for mixing, go with the yamahas..... |

i'd says that your could mix bass on em, but i'm not sure you'd get the best picture of what you'd sound like on a larger system.
seems to me that they boost the low end alittle to hard, but then my roommate loves em for that purpose.
i think it depends on your tastes. |

you really should test them..
Best way to find good speakers for audio creation/production is to make a track with intentional frequency conflicts, such as small clashes between, bass and kick, between lead and kick, and also make one version very bass heavy, also one version with overdriven high freqs...
Also make one version where you overdrive the mids a little. Now you compare how it sounds/compare on both speakers,
the bass boosted will tell you how they differ in low end. take into consideration of their amount of watt per element also. If they compare.
Most interesting is the mids and highs, But a balance of all 3 is important
anyway if you can afford a pair of genelecs i think they are awsome, very revealing and honest monitors. Expensive delux though

as far i heard go for the yamaha..all the people i know (also a few pro psytrance producers) are satisfied with them..
important is because of the 8 inch speakers the correct build up in the studio and some accoustic gear.
