Hi!
I know there were lots of topics about this, but they almost always go OT, and i cant figure out the key advantages of these two monitors ;P
I would like to ask which of them should i stick with in trance music?
I heard that RP8 have overhyped bass and that HS80M have very little of it, so i dont know what to choose...
Is it worth having too much bass, or is it worth to have it too quiet?
I want only one of these two, no behringers or any other noisy piece of hardware, i cant wait longer, and do not have money for a sub.
Which should i choose? and why?
Thanks :] PEACE!

I can't really help you with which to choose cause i haven't heard the yamaha's and i have no idea what they sound like,or what sound are you after.I got the Rp8's though somedays ago and indeed they are kinda heavy on the low freqs, you won't like them much if you want a very flat monitor.Read some reviews on the net or just find a store and go with a Cd with a track you know well, listen and pick

Dude, myself i had the hs80's for quite a while now, i recomended them to loads of friends and so far everyone was more than happy with these beauties , if its something that sounds accurate you want go for the yammies. I know lots of folks who returned thier RP8'S to exchange them with the 80's after listening to them in my studio, go for them theyre awesome, they'll certainly become your best friends

Bass is enough, and very accurate, and if youve got room treatment it will punch trough youre spine beautifuly i assure you.

I did sort out the sub eventualy, i didnt need it i admit but im also a movie fanatic and a big fan of explosions! , so you can understand why i got it in the end.

both ok for the price... if you want big sound and lots of bass!
i would not get any of them tho.. i find them lucking in clarity and imaging.
bass is on both too heavy and not really true.
for the money you can have better alternatives.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

i LOVE my HS80m's... don't have the sub..
some friend's think they notice them being a bit TOO subby.. i completely disagree. enough bass but still crystal-clarity..

i even add some bass when ËNJOYING music rather then keeping it clean when MÄKING music.

Mackie HR-824's would be MY second choice with my current .. practical experience. THX sound man !

the adams have a great reputation, samson rubicons also are quite talked about.

the yamaha's are good but i think the others like of adam's would be more revealing.           "Whoever said the best things in life are free... obviously grew their own bud"

I own a pair of KRK RP8 G2's.
Got one monitor repaired after it's tweeter stopped working.
Now what I was affraid of has happened.
My newly repaired monitor sounds sooo much more crisp and even louder than my non defective one.
This really annoys me, so much that i cannot live with the knowledge that my two monitors are sounding identical.
So what do you reckon I should do, get rid of 'm and get something like the Yamaha's mentioned here?
