I have finally scraped together enough money to buy myself monitors..I have flipped a lot of burgers for this so i want to make sure i make the right decision!
I went to a music shop today & heard the Krk rokit 6..They sounded really good, nice bass & very crisp..the Frequency Response is: 49Hz - 20kHz
I read somewhere that these are made for rock music? I would like to know if someone owns these & would recommend them for trance production..
The 2nd option is Tannoy Reveal 5 A..I haven't heard these just read a good review on musictech magazine..The frequency response is 65Hz to 30kHz so they don't go down as low as the Krk's..
The people in the two music shops i went to both told me to go for the Krk's..but maybe that's coz they wanted to get rid of em
So people my hard earned money is in your hands..what should i get? I wanna buy em tomm b4 i spend d money on something else..Your help is much appreciated!

hmmm so since i'm producing it makes sense to go with KRK? I have to say i'm inclined more towards these..
A friend owns the smaller Rokit 5 & he's happy with them except for the fact that they're a little bass light..But since i'm getting the bigger 6" brother i guess they should be good..

Its funny i looked at the thread and wondered "when did i post this?!" since im trying to decide myself between these pairs.
Havent heard the Tannoy but heard the KRK.
Really liked what i heard.
I read some reviews that said the Tannoy lack bass. And i like bass
So im probably going for the KRKs...

I've been using the KRK RP5 for more then a year now and I don't think you can go wrong with the RP6. not to say that the tannoys are a bad choise too.

Hi S-Cube,
I've had the KRK Rokit 6 for a year now and they're good for the price but there's MUCH better stuff available in a higher price range if you have time to flip some more burgers
They're fine, but as with any monitors you need to learn them. Even the 6's aren't particularly bass-heavy, according to some sources KRK have designed their monitors with rock music in mind, not electronic dance music but hey.. it works pretty well. Just be sure to have a reference hifi system to test your tracks on because there will be differences, at times fairly significant (in my experience anyway). |
