Electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk will be celebrated in a documentary DVD release this September.
Titled Kraftwerk and the Electronic Revolution, the film promises to feature rare performances and exclusive interviews. In so doing, it will explore their entire career, with a particular focus on how the Düsseldorf group emerged out of the nascent Krautrock scene and eventually transcended it.
We're guessing that the announced extra feature "The Düsseldorf Scene Vs. The Hamburg Scene" will most likely pit the group against Faust, whose earthier, more abstract sound took the genre in a completely different direction. With interviews with ex-members and live recordings also in the cards, though, we're hoping the imagined battle between the two is a mere sidelight to tons of unseen footage from the vaults.
Kraftwerk and The Electronic Revolution will be released on DVD on September 2nd
