Anyone got or used a KORG PROPHECY? how is it?, saw some good reviews about it and my friend is selling a hardly used one for a very very cheap price, whats your input about this machine?

yep a pain to program,owned one for years but don t remember the sound, loved it at this time... if you get it very cheap it can worth it for the keyboard and the few knobs .
can t comment on the sound but we used it a lot for acidic sounds (it can scream like a motherfucker) , basslines or some old school leads.from what i remeber we all loved it around here, even friends with analog synths cause it offered new things and new sounds but maybe today it sux big time ,no idea.
how much he is selling it?

if you like these kind of acidic sound your gonna love it, to me it s sound like the prophecy, i jump out of the windows if it s not a prophecy or a z1.even if i dont remmeber the sound i can t forget this one,at 5 mn some wanted to buy a prohecy just for this sound, we couldn t make a track wihtout using it,it was like a sound of god for us haha and in that gms track it sound 100% like it.
i remmeber i liked it more than tb303 at that time for screaming acid sounds.(but it don t sound organic,it just scream and make everyone scream)

lot of the acid sound in this track sound like coming out of a prophecy, it make me miss mine, that not acid tinny sound like in waldorf largo lol damn these day we are happy with not much...

everyone i asked said its a pain to program, a friend of mine has got one and programed some fantastic sounding screaming leads that give me goose bumps!!, its the reason why i got interested.....so basicaly im very confused, but i mean this guy is asking 120 euro for thi machine and its still in perfect condition, no missing knobs, scratches or glitches when its used.

yes it can make some good acid oldschool sound too but the thing have tons of oscillaotrs, still some synth sound more phat just with one . but it s still great for some sounds,i like largo and use it a lot.
i think you wont find same caractere in plugin, for 120 euro i ll would get it for sure it make a great controller at same time. at that time we were using it with nord jp8000 and the prophecy was sounding always great,it was my favorite synth from these va (part of that is cause of the built in effect , we didn t have much at that time)

its true, hardware has a character of its own that vsti's lack. i use a novation slmk2 as master controler and i love it, i wouldnt change it for nothing believe me, so if i buy the korg its gonna be for its character .......hows the quality of its built in effects?

no idea man sorry but i guess they are not bad, korg can make some good effects but not sure it s in the prophecy . i just remmeber the distortion that i like d a lot, sound the same like in the gms track on the acid sounds.

the gms track:
the "chopped up" sound at around 40 secs is most def a prophecy. the screaming lead probably too...
here are some specs:
http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=505 i didn't even remember if it had a efx section so it can not be very impressive. distortion seems to be ok as you could hear in the gms track and i wouldn't buy the prophecy because of it's keys if you laready have a midi kb.

for 120 euros id buy it,,play with it (YOU WILL NEED SOME SORT OF EDITOR.....idiquestM)
and if you dont like it sell it and double your money....i own a z1 which is identicle in structure and once you ge your head round the different types ofsynthesis you can get some fucked up shit from it......but remember it sounds Digital and needs to be aproached so
your not going to get a MOOG or TB303 sound out of it...120 fuck might buy it myself
