IBM is better than WD.
For studio, I THINK XP is better, not sure though.

Don't buy IBM! Don't even consider it. I tell you that from 3 years of experience of working with IBM equipment. It's as bad as it gets. Go for WD or Maxtor, don't even think of IBM.
And as for OS, i think that Win2000 imho is the best for music nowadays.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

OK, I just wanna point out that I have IBM 40GB 7200RPM for a year now and it works perfectly, without any problems so far.

and I have an old IBM laptop which I have never had any problems with.

I work with 80GB/7200RPM HD...
Works fine here.

P.s

Why not installing the upgrade version of XP
and having XP and Windows 98 also.

Hey , i think that all the new Korg gear
sucks big time .
U can get really better results with
Reason software and some cheap midi keyboard .
Some software can be better than some hardware.
Install Win2000pro on Segate hardisk for best
performance in audio work .

EZ ,

Peace.

Good luck with IBM if you have it.
Can't stand it personally, all the PC technicians i know can't stand their products, especially their HD's.

i had a 40gig IBM drive as my audio/wav hard disk.
it died in the ass in less than a year....
go for Seagate or W.D. instead

MS2000r - Liked the sound, note it has 4 notes polyphony only (!).
Should cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of 4000 NIS.

to 24/96 - Maxtor is Quantum - just for you to know...

to TES - I think u would go win98 for the internet and winxp for the music win98 is safer from all the bullshit that is happening on the net and what will happen.

about the ms2kr, I only heard it has a nice 'analog' kind of sound - not as the old ms20 but still alike - with a sequencer - which is a plus for live acts. Don't know if it will add much to your studio, pay a good listen to it, and decide if the sound is good for you...

yes u can
if u can configure your bios which hd u want to boot with.

boot with first - install xp
boot with sexond - install xp

now everytime u will need to boot from one of them - u will need to start bios - and set the boot hd again.
