Hummm...I know many artists use it...
Does nice tweaks, and I think it has an amazing delay, but thats about all I can say about it....haven't used it, only played with it a bit some time ago...

i have an MS2000R
whats an MS2000B? never heard of it.. oh... wait... the black one?
well ... the original model is cool. its not a "killer" synth like a virus or nordlead. but it costs half as much, or less than half as much. so for the money its still a great synth. and to be honest i've never owned a virus, none of my housemates have ever owned a virus, but we all have tracks signed. so we cant be that shit without one. sometimes sounds are just a little weaker, need a bit more work to fatten them and make them sweet in the mix... but they're still damn cool sounds basically.
i think the MS2000 is great for trance, in fact better for trance than drumnbass. the multimode filter is essential, and it squelches very nicely; the 16 step sequencer is very useful for trancey noises; the mod matrix also comes in very handy... Great machine for trance i think.
As a first synth?
Hmm well it was my first synth... and i have to say at the time it confused the fuck out of me. It took me quite a few years to work it out. Some aspects of its architecture arent immediately obvious.
Having used the k-station since i think that would make a more natural synth to learn about synthesis with.
Then again, I didnt know shit about v.a. synthesis.... so i was learning the whole theory of the idea, as well as the way that specific machine worked. I think if you already know a bit about the basics of v.a. synthesis (eg, you've used reason's subtractor, pro-53, etc) then you will have no problems.
On the other hand... as a first synth as in "this is the first time i'm spending money on something to make good noises, so will it make good noises, and will it make enough of them that it lasts me a few years til i can afford to buy another one" - yup - great buy
Feel free to hit me up with any questions you got about it
