because the MS10 was all analogue circuitry which, although sometimes plaged by noise and pitch instability, does not have to deal with sampling rates as DSP analogue modelling stuff.. The oscillators are actually generating waveforms, not playing them from a wavetable (pre-generated waves) as a good portion of DSP synths today do, playing from a wavetable introduces digital aliasing noise at the higher notes and sometimes even middle notes, this is attempted to be solved with interpolation, which smooths the waveform so the aliasing is not as audible.. but interpolation backfires sometimes and ends up killing some of the crispness and cutting sound that analogue has.. |

in other words: MS10 - is analogue, so it's real waveforms are running inside its veins, and real voltage is changing when you use OSC tune, and VCF's potentiometers, and MS2000 - is "virtually analog" which means the sound is created digitally (via wavetable or other tricks) and that after D/A does the job (digital sound turns back to analog) , the sound is passing some analogue buffers. the analogs are often much faster to respond to controller changes, but they have instability tuning (detuning) and are very huge because in the time they were common the electronic parts were much bigger than today. i think that today the people use more digital equipment because its much easier to develop digital circuits than the analog.
Asaf, you don't wanna get into that analog vs digital argument, do you ?
:-) hmmm this is long, i have a lecture. bom |

Well.. I agree with Idan.. that this synth is a KILLER if you know how to use it.. I just recently got it... and Iv been working with it and its really good... some twisted sounds... Booms |
