it's cool... it rather rock'n'roll sounding (cool distorcoin)

the modulation isn't very deep...

i wouldn't chose this for full-on, but can be cool for ambiental sounds...           roll a joint or STFU :)

Its fine for full-on too. Nice sharp sounds (if you want that).

I like the novation nova... i have one, although i only shared an apartment with someone who had a korg ms2000

the nova is only avaiable second-hand, but features more polyphony, better modulation matrix (awesome, more than you'll get with any VST, although albino has more destinations and sources the nova allows more modulations), more and better FX, more oscilators, filters, 3 simultaneos envelopes (2 freely assignable), etc,...

what the korg has that no other synth has (that i know) is the sequencer type modulation wich is cool for ambience type FX...

the korg 2000 is a more imediate synth, you'll get good sounds faster, but there's almost no limits in the novation...

apart from the novation, you got nords, virus, waldorfs, alesis (andromeda, ion and the other) and little more...

what i really like in the korg was the distorcion, but that's of little use in a full-on context...

sy000321, good points. Just one question: Why would distortion be of little use in full-on? I often use the distortion. On leads and many other sounds.

yeah, you're right, i use it a lot to today, but at the time that's how i felt about it

i loved to arpegiate a bass path eith distortion and resonant filter on it...

gave that eletro-rock or industrial kind or fell, reallt great...

Just FYI, the Waldorf Q has step sequencer type modulation as well.

Juno-D is a sample based "synthesizer" that has no modules like real synthesizers. It has a bunch of samples which you can arpeggiate, change the pitch and put some fx on it. Definitely not a good choise.

Check roland jp-8080 or jp-8000.

If you buy a synth, buy a good one. You can always sell it forward...

And about ms-2000... it has only four voice polyphony, which means it can produce 4 sounds simultaneosly. That means you can use 4 sounds/track. Unless you bounce 'em to audio?? Prolly someone knows better than me...
