Does anybody here have experience with the korg ms 2000? A friend of mine is selling one (don't know how much yet) and I 'd like to know if it is interesting or not. Most youtube movies just play the boring presets.

And what would be a reasonable price?

I've had the rack model for a few years and I don't have any plans on parting with it any time soon. It works wonders for my inspiration - everything is there, no vast jungle of submenus - and it's quite versatile. The arpeggiator isn't reliable at all times as it sometimes goes out of sync, at least on the ones I've played around with. Aside from that it's a great synthesizer with a lot of character.

In Scandinavia the keyboard model usually goes for about 350-400 €. The rack model is a little cheaper, of course, and usually goes for 200 € or thereabouts depending on the condition. There's a rack B model, too, which I think might cost a little extra but I can't remember the price right now and whether or not it comes with any special features that justifies the name and and price tag. You may want to read up on that should such a purchase become relevant.

By the way, wasn't there an MS2000 thread here a few years ago? Perhaps there's some information posted there that could be interesting to you.           Aural transmissions from the deep forests of Sweden

ms2000 is awesome for quirky fx and dry thin leads and i love the fx section its pure mayhem with just the delay...

if you are up to fatness and big lush pads... look elsewhere.. in the likes of novation nova and the highly understated alesis ion/micron that are in the same price second hand!           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

Nord was not my cup of synth...
Now having fun with the Korg. The first impression: it's too big for how it sounds

Ive decided that my first tattoo wil l be a Korg logo.

Cant say Ive had the luck of playing with one, but seeing how cheap they are maybe I will someday           .

wouldn't the nord.
but ! i use the ms2000 for everything and have for years. i love it, and missed it for so long when i sold my keyboard model.
now it's a mainstay in my rig. lots of neat white noise sounds and good long range lfos on it.           Doof Local

I have an ms2000r. you can definately make some cool noises from it. it does sound thin compared to some synths. I use a virus ti as my main synth but use a novation ks rack for fat warm wobbly sounds as it is better at them imo. not used the ms2000 for a while but have fun and make useful patches when i do... it does sound thin but somehow that makes its sounds fit easily in a mix. Not really used the nord lead (i borrowed one for 2 weeks once - didn't really know how to use it at the time though...) i would love to have one as I do like the discovery pro emulation. the filter on the clavia is top notch so ppl tell me           http://www.catawampus-records.co.uk/Catawampus_Records/Skyhighatrist.html
