Does anybody know if i can draw the bass in the arrangmente screm of Logic and send this midi info to my synth and record the wave that come from the Synth?
IŽm using an Audiophile 2496 and my synth is connected by midi in and out.
I'm asking this because it's a little bit dificult to play the notes at real time because of the lattency.
Thanks to all |

Yes you should be able too
just draw the parten in and send the out of the synth to the in of the sound card... arm an audio track and hit record...
make sure you draw in all your cut offs and stuff so it does exactly what you want it too
about latency... a general rule is if you turn the out put of the track you are recording on to in logic then this stops the echo effect you get.. there should not be latency with your midi:) unless you are using a soft synth.. and then you need to use a smaller buffer size....
but i always reserve the right to be wrong !!!!! |

Well there is always a slight latency with MIDI and there is also a slight latency in the A/D converters. If you want things to be really tight, zoom in as far as you can go and move the audio track back a touch so that the beginning of the first audio note is exactly in sync with the first MIDI note.
If you do this alot it is probably easier to calculate the exact latency once and then you can just slide any audio you record this way back with the amount that you calculated.
This is of course only valid for sounds with a sharp attack. If it is a pad or anything like that, timing becomes much less of an issue and you can skip the whole syncing thing.

To send the notes to your synth from logic and receive and record the sound from your sinth you must do the following steps:
1.Use an intrument track, like for exmple the Grand Piano track that comes in default song or any other...
This track will be used to send your midi notes...
2.Choose an audio track and in the mixer, put it in stereo, enable it to receive sound from you sound card inputs, choosing (input 1-2)
3. Click the REC button in the audio track in the mixer and its now receiving sound from your sinth.
4.Now, in order to have it on time, wich normally doesnŽt happen, in the arrange window choose the instrument track youŽre using to export, and youŽll have the device options on the left of your screen. First thing to do is to un-check the program tick, this will lock the sinth to go automatically to a preset, so you should disable it.
5.Now, in order to put the synth on time with the music, you should do as follow...put a sound with the attack set to minimum so it plays imediatelly. Put the notes at the same time of a kick, and press play to check if its on time. Now in the same device options on the left you have a delay option. This will allow to adjust sicronization of the midi track. Find the best value for this and it should remain the same. For example, in mine is about -62.
6. ok, its all set, on time, and ready to record. Just write what you want listen to it, and when you want to record just press the record button (The audio track MUST be selected when you press record button)
DonŽt forget step 3 youŽll not be able to listen or record anything without this
Hope that was clear and helpfull
Any doubts let us know
