My bro had one in his old studio, neither of us really liked it. Sounded tinny & was way to fiddly to get decent sound. If yôu compare the original to the prototype on the Korg page it's pretty obviouse this is gonna be another "mini". No doubt made to be cheap like the MS-20 which IMO feels like it's gonna fall apart straight out of the box. And that's the least of its issues.
Korg & Arturia should out more effort in to building quality products than cheap anolog that sounds good but feels like a toy. At least Roland make well built toys.

the built quality of the mini is really really shit.
the sound is quite good though to be honest..
but still the feel makes me not buy it.

Yeah gotta say for the price Arturia seems pretty good. The MS-20 Mini? I've been minding my mates while he tours Japan with his industrial metal band, and as he complained the knobs feel extremely loose like they're just about to fall of, he got a replacement that was identical out of the box & he was told if he fixes them himself it will void his warranty. Plus it makes a horrible white noise type sound some times, which is really frustrating when he wants the sounds he needs for industrial music.
As soon as Arturia stop being slack & make a polyphony I'll buy it for sure. Too many mono's & all the good poly analog's now are too expensive.

hmm yeh lots more complaints about the ms20 built, and the form factor makes it difficult to get interms of shipping/carrying
although i must say im a huge fan of korg, all their products have a edge and they are genuinely good.
Roland stuff I guess only the high end stuff must be good

Nope. Not even Roland's current high end stuff is great. Again, I'm only keen on the tr-8 really, it's cheap & affordable with great sounds. I've had loads of old mates asking for me to do my live acid shows again which used to consist of (in the 90's) 2x303's, 909, 808 & an old akai sampler running through a mixer with a bunch of cheap guitar pedals. Heaving influenced by the London acid techno sound. I sold the gear off for a few expensive operations in mid-00's, but now I can grab a x0xb0x or two & the tr-8 for less than a nord lead 4 and get some well paid live gigs.

the minibrute is built like a tank compared to the ms 20 mini. really, i went to a shop and was amazed at how bad it feels and how good it sounds at the same time..

would probably cost double if it was built like tank.. personally i would rather pay more and get good build quality like with moogs stuff.. but it dont mean the synth won t last long..some toys still work 20 years later
i enjoyed the sound of the gforce oddity ,now it s maybe old and not on par with latest plugs but this Arp Odyssey probably gonna sound great to me... |

Korg is releasing the original MS-20 in kit form. It's definitely a better build, but costs 1400$.
Not sure how Artura does it but that's the only way to compete with and old behemoth like Korg that's putting out new equipment every few weeks.
