DJ_Chorman,
i understand what you saying man but i think you better continue making trance music in parallel- if you spend time on learning piano or the same time on practicing more and more electronic music making i think that the 2nd option will take you faster to your target- in my opinion anyway-
a year ago i start learning piano but every time i practice and explored new scales i feel an immediate need to transform it to trance music and i stopped the practicing- well i could do better but anyway what i'm trying to say is do what you love man- the love will create the knowledge, just give it the time
peace

If you only want to produce psychedelic trance, then i guess one could get away with minimal knowledge about musical theory.
but if you want to be able to make different kinds of music its good to know the musical language...
its fun to be able to bend the rules, that is psychedelic aswell....
I dont think music theory will hinder me in creating strange music...
sometimes i let my mind flow and choose the tones, sometimes i want to be in more control of what i do....
i think there is room for everything... knowledge about things only make it easier to bend the rules...
knowledge wont hinder a open mind...
